Former Grey's Anatomy star Sara Ramirez has reportedly officially pulled the plug on their marriage of more than a decade with estranged husband Ryan DeBolt, three years after announcing their separation.

Formally submitting the paperwork on Tuesday, June 11, the 48-year-old seeks legal help to officially reclaim their single status. As per the court documents obtained by People and US Magazine, Ramirez listed the date of separation from DeBolt as January 2018. As for the reason for the divorce, the document indicated "irreconcilable differences."

Sara Ramirez and Ryan DeBolt tied the knot in an intimate beachside ceremony attended by close family and friends in New York on July 4, 2012, after a year-long engagement.

Sara Ramirez seeks to prevent the court from awarding spousal support to either party

In Ramirez's divorce filing, according to People and US Magazine, besides requesting to officially end their marriage to DeBold, the Grey's Anatomy alum is also seeking to prevent the court from awarding spousal support to either of them.

The star cited an existing prenuptial agreement as the basis for dividing their assets amid divorce proceedings. The estranged couple first shared their split in a brief July 2021 separation announcement in a since-deleted Instagram post. Ramirez was vague as to the reason for the split but noted that they remain "loving and supportive" of each other's chosen paths, quashing out any negativity amid their separation.

Sara Ramirez, who came out as bisexual in 2016 and then years later as nonbinary, talked with Out Magazine in November 2021 about identities, mental health issues, activism, and their relationships.

According to the actor, their separation from their estranged husband, who they had amicably separated from for several years before the 2021 announcement is "very tender and vulnerable." Talking about their relationship with ex-husband and their eventual split, Ramirez said:

"We had a foundation of real love...I am just so grateful that we were able to work through that process with such grace, with such integrity, with such honesty and open communication."

Ramirez further noted that they are rooting for each other "every step of the way." The actor also said that they remain friends and shared that they share similar humor about their split. They jokingly said:

"I married the right man, because there's no one else I'd rather be getting divorced [from]."

Elsewhere in their interview with the magazine, Ramirez shared an appreciation for their ex-husband and the friendship they continue to have. However, while their separation was amicable, and they could joke about it, they chose to keep things private to be sensitive to those around them. Ramirez mentioned:

"But we felt a huge responsibility because we also have family that's going to see this stuff, and we wanted to make sure that we had had private time with them to process before the world was going to process."

Sara Ramirez further noted:

"I'm really, really proud of the way that we have moved through things."
