What did Brent Huck do?

As previously shown in Swamp Murders on Prime Video, Brent Huck was convicted of felony murder and kidnapping in 2003 for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Misty Morse. Misty’s dead body was found floating in the Indian River, Florida on July 24, 2000. Her body was partially decomposed, nude, and tied up with white duct tape. Plastic bags were used to tie her feet and a unique nylon rope was used to restrain her as well.

The detectives initially had a hard time identifying the victim. After the fingerprints were recovered and the victim's name was finally found, the detectives contacted Misty’s family for leads.

From one of Misty’s exes, they came to know about Brent Huck, a toxic ex-lover of Misty’s, who was an ex-navy seal. When the detectives brought in Brent for questioning, his body language seemed normal and he didn’t plead guilty as previously shown in Swamp Murders on Prime Video.

However, when they searched his house, they discovered that he lived near the crime scene. He also had a private boat. The detectives also found out that Brent had abrasions on his hands and wrists, which he said was because of his dog’s leash. However, the white tape, the garbage bags, and the screen spline found on the victim matched with similar produced ones found at Brent Huck’s home, as previously shown in Swamp Murders on Prime Video.

Later, the Quest Gen forensics revealed that the hair found on the duct tape recovered from Misty's body was dog hair. Soon, the black hair matched Brent’s German Shepard Rottweiler Mix named Chiba, following which Brent was linked directly to this murder and later arrested.

Why did he kill Misty Morse?

As previously shown in Swamp Murders on Prime Video, the detectives speculated that Brent who was in a relationship already must have panicked after hearing rumors about Misty being pregnant with his child, which could have been problematic for him. To confront Misty, he could have asked her to meet and later lured her into her death and then thrown her body in the river hoping no one would find it.

Brent was convicted of felony murder and kidnapping following which he received two consecutive life sentences in May 2003. To date, Brent has not pleaded guilty and believes that one of Misty's other exes killed her. He has been denied parole and continues to serve his life sentence at the Apalachee Correctional Institute.
