ID's Signs of a Psychopath is set to bring forth another fascinating tale of murder, with a focus on Cassandritz Blanc. He was a psychopath who committed two murders without much of a motive. Blanc was accused and later charged with killing his 20-year-old wife and father-in-law for allegedly no distinct reason at all. He proceeded to mutilate the bodies to get rid of them.

The double murder case dates back to 2018 and remains one of the most bizarre yet chilling cases in the history of Fort Lauderdale. It is the subject of Signs of a Psychopath, season 6 episode 17. The synopsis for the same reads:

"Six months pregnant Martine Bernard's family reports her missing; days later, her father vanishes as well; when officers interview Martine's husband, Cassandritz Blanc, they find a calculating psychopath willing to do anything to cover his tracks."

Though Blanc tried hard to get rid of both bodies, he outright failed in both attempts, leading the authorities to apprehend him. With a mountain of evidence and little room to wiggle, Blanc confessed to his crime, earning himself a life sentence with no chance of parole. He continues to serve his time in prison now.

The episode airs on June 30, 2024, at 9 pm EST.

What did Cassandritz Blanc do?

Cassandritz Blanc, a Florida native, quite arbitrarily murdered his 20-year-old wife, Martine Bernard, for allegedly disrespecting him. He reportedly killed his wife on June 4, 2018, and hid her body in her apartment for a week. At the time of the murder, Martine was six months pregnant, massively adding to the brutality of the crime.

Following this, Blanc went on to hunt down his father-in-law and murder him. He did not explain this crime, but he tried to pull it off with great precision.

Just five days after murdering Martine Bernard, he traveled to his in-laws' place to murder Roosevelt Bernard, Martine's father. While his mother-in-law went into the shower, Cassandritz managed to lure Roosevelt Bernard to Martine's old bedroom, where he shot him from behind. He allegedly did this because he couldn't look the man in the eye while killing him, according to the perp's later confession.

When his mother-in-law came back, he cooked up a story about a Hispanic man visiting Roosevelt and Roosevelt leaving with him. Cassandritz Blanc went on to attend a family event that very evening with his in-laws. There he made an excuse to come back and clean up the murder scene.

He reportedly put Roosevelt's body in a trash can and wheeled it to a nearby vacant field. He returned later to set it on fire with gasoline, but could not remove all the evidence.

By the next morning, Roosevelt Bernard's family had already filed a missing person's report. Soon, the police were after Blanc amidst his suspicious behavior.

As the police were keeping a watch on Cassandritz Blanc, they saw him getting out late one night and checked the unmarked patrol car. He reportedly proceeded to drag Martine Bernard’s body in a trash container and dump it in an alleyway of the apartment complex later that night.

He had allegedly tried to dismember the body but failed to remove any part with conviction. Right after he wheeled Martine Bernard's body into the alleyway, he was arrested.

What was the verdict of the Cassandritz Blanc case?

In his trial later, Blanc received three life terms for two counts of murder in the first degree and one count of murder in the first degree of an unborn child. He was also charged with two 15-year terms for the abuse of dead bodies, though he failed to accomplish his task.

Currently in prison, Blanc will serve his sentence for the rest of his life with no possibility of parole.
