How did David Seawater die?

According to This Is the Zodiac Speaking, Connie and Don Seawater's brother, David Seawater, was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He died at the hospital, surrounded by his siblings and well-wishers, as he took his final breath. David Seawater participated in all three episodes of the documentary and made significant revelations regarding Arthur Leigh Allen during the presentation.

He passed away just after the filming of This is the Zodiac Speaking was completed.

What was David Seawater’s last wish as revealed in This is the Zodiac Speaking?

David's last wish was to uncover the truth about the serial killer known as The Zodiac. He wanted to close the investigation and clarify whether Allen was the Zodiac killer or not. However, his wish is yet to be fulfilled since the zodiac enigma remains unexplained.

In This is the Zodiac Speaking, David Seawater said,

“Now I am getting older. I realise that maybe our information can help something ….and give everybody closure that is involved in it . I really hope we will find out . I really do . I would love to be able to close this , to have it done .. it’s just been going on for so long and just to have it over with would be a great thing …”

As shown in the docuseries, in 1992, David Seawater, called Arthur Leigh Allen to find out if he drugged him and his sister Connie. Allegedly, Allen confirmed to David that he drugged and molested Connie. According to David Seawater, Allen admitted that he was the Zodiac killer.

Here is how David Seawater describes his last phone call with Arthur Leigh Allen,

"..I asked Mr Allen were you the zodiac? There was deathly silence. I didn’t hear anything for a second . I hear this gasping noise. He was just crying . He collected himself enough , and he came back on in a real weak voice. He goes, ‘ Yes it was me. ‘ that was the last time I talked to him."

After this call, David tried to contact the police, but they couldn’t help him because of a lack of evidence. Next up, David also called his mother, Phyllis Seawater, to inform the same. However, she refused to hear a word and told David not to tell anybody about Arthur Leigh Allen.

However, Phyllis Seawater told him about a box with more information about the zodiac. She gave a condition to him that he could only open the box after her death.

After his mother‘s death, the box was found, which mostly had letters to Phyllis Seawater from Allen. A VCR tape with stickers was also recovered, with footage of Allen recording himself, other documented videos, and more. Although the evidence in the box made it clear that Phyllis Seawater was hiding something from her children, it did not aid much in cracking the mystery of the Zodiac Killer case.
