Felicia Barden murdered her husband Willie James Barden in cold blood
Reportedly, Felicia shot her husband Willie James Barden on the morning of November 12, 2019. Her son Joshua Price revealed to the authorities that her mother called her while he was away and told him that he shot Willie Barden. Price came back home and found his stepfather’s lifeless body in a pool of blood.
As per Oxygen True Crime, Price called 911 and just said that someone was shot at his home. He did not provide additional details to the officers. When the first officers came to the scene, they talked to Joshua and found him in a panicky state.
Price also revealed to Oxygen True Crime that -
"My mom’s (Felicia) very frantic, walking room to room…I just had this simple question of where is Willie and then it was all adrenaline...."
Joshua Price first told the officers at the crime scene in disbelief that,
"My mom shot Willie in self-defense."
After the initial interrogation, Willie was taken out of the house at the back of the patrol car. The officers then entered the home and found Felicia Barden crying and acting frantic. She had blood on her face and a deep cut on her forehead as per Oxygen True Crime.
The detectives then found Willie James Barden lying deceased on the bathroom floor, shot dead. He had a gunshot wound to his chest.
Felicia Barden was arrested and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Willie Barden
As the investigation unfolded, the detectives found a lot of clues. As per reports, there were four cell phones recovered from the crime scene, of which a cellphone had evidence that revealed that the now-deceased husband wanted to divorce Felicia Barden.
There were also Google searches including how to get away with murder and a suicide note which made it easy for the detectives to understand that this was a premeditated homicide. The forensics also found gunpowder residue on the victim and the accused’s hand.
The most important piece of evidence was the video footage tape from inside the house, which clearly indicated that Felicia Barden left her room on the day of the shooting and went to the garage from where she came back with a gun.
Reportedly, Joshua also later revealed to the officers that his mother had confessed to him about killing Willie Barden. Based on the evidence and the testimonies, Felicia was sentenced to life in prison in 2021. Although she tried for a new trial, her appeal was later rejected.
