Who is Hadden Clark and what did he do?
Born to Hadden Clark Sr. and Flavia Clark on July 31, 1952, in Troy, New York, Hadden suffered a difficult childhood from the very start. His parents were alleged alcoholics, and this led to a dysfunctional household, where Hadden had to bear extreme punishments like going to school dressed in girls' clothes.
This created an atmosphere, where the young Hadden started cutting up and killing animals. He was also relentlessly bullied in school and this only aggravated his alarming behaviors.
Despite this twisted nature, he went on to pursue cooking at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He also worked in the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, Colorado, at a time, and during this, some of his colleagues claimed to have allegedly seen him drinking blood that drained from the meat he prepared.
After this, he went on to serve in the Navy as a chef but he was discharged after he was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
After he returned from the Navy, he continued doing menial jobs for survival. While living at his brother's place, he murdered a friend of his niece's when the 6-year-old girl came to play. He allegedly stabbed Michele Dorr to death and buried her in a wooded area several miles away. Police did not find enough evidence to link Hadden Clark at the time and the case grew cold.
Years later, while working for Penny Houghteling as a gardener, Hadden murdered Penny’s 24-year-old daughter Laura as well by stabbing and suffocating her with a pillow. He carried her body in a bedsheet through a wooded area and buried her far away from the house. He later dressed up as a woman and left the house to give the impression that Laura Houghteling had left the house alive and well.
However, he left behind his fingerprints on the pillowcase. This helped the police reach him. He confessed and led them to Laura's body. After discovering he lived close to Michele Dorr, police also began suspecting him for the murder. The authorities were eventually able to find Michele's blood in Hadden Clark's brother's old house, linking him to the crime.
Hadden Clark was sentenced to two 30-year terms for the murders. He also allegedly confessed to a dozen more murders to his cellmate Jack Truitt. He continues to remain at the Eastern Correctional Institution in Westover, Maryland, as of now.
Investigation Discovery’s Born Evil: The Serial Killer and The Savior will cover this case in complete detail.
