Where is Kevin Lewis now? Details explored as Netflix Drops Worst Ex Ever

Season one episode four of Worst Ex Ever on Netflix narrates the revenge saga of Kevin Lewis, a toxic husband of Amanda Canales. Kevin hired killers on the night of September 20, 2017, to kill Amanda. They go to Amanda’s residence and killed her sister Alisha Canales-Mcguire aka Punky, thinking she was Amanda.

Episode four is titled 'Married to a Monster.' The official breakdown of the episode as per Tudum reads:

"When Amanda met Kevin Lewis in their town of Everett, Washington, she found his efforts to woo her both bold and charming.

"Years into their relationship, after Kevin’s emotional abuse becomes violent, Amanda asks for a divorce. But when Kevin’s continued behavior causes him to lose custody of their three children, his rage turns deadly."

In November 2021, Kevin Lewis was found guilty of first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of Alisha Canales McGuire.

Reportedly, he tried to overturn his sentence in 2024 but failed. Currently, Kevin is in prison in the U.S. serving his life sentence.

Alisha Canales McGuire was shot several times by the killer hired by Kevin Lewis

As shown in episode four of Worst Ex Ever on Netflix, Alisha was shot several times at Amanda’s Everett, Washington home on September 20, 2017.

Before the murder, Alisha was babysitting Amanda’s three children while her sister was away for work. At night when the doorbell rang and Alisha went to open the door, she was shot multiple times.

The babysitter Abigail woke up to two gunshots, followed by two more, was the first to find Alisha slain. She called 911 and reported the homicide. Detectives arrived on the scene and found Alisha lying with her face down in a pool of blood and motionless.

Why did Kevin Lewis kill Alisha Canales McGuire?

Kevin Lewis had wanted to kill Amanda, as he was angry with her after he was denied custody, alimony and child support in August 2017.

Amanda filed complaints against him, got a protection order and moved out with their three kids. Kevin was an unruly husband and had anger and abandonment issues. He assaulted Amanda two times, following which Amanda filed for divorce and left his home.

Amanda was out of town at the time of her ordered killing, but Kevin didn’t know that. He called his cousin Jerradon Phelps and asked him if knew an 'OG 'killer, who would do the killing for him. However, as per Jerradon, he agreed to kill Amanda himself, as shown in episode 4 of Worst Ex Ever.

On September 20, 2017, Jerradon and Alexis Hale (Jerradon’s girlfriend) went to Amana’s residence.

Hale knocked on the door, and as Alisha (Amanda’s sister) opened the door, Jerradon shot her multiple times and got inside his car and made a run for his home along with his girlfriend. When he was later arrested based on a tip call and CCTV and Snapchat records, Jerradon confessed to his crime.

Kevin’s bank statements also proved that he had tipped Jarred $2400 to carry out the killing, which Jarred had flashed on his Snapchat after the killing. In 2020, Jerradon Phelps was sentenced to 31.5 years in prison, while Alexis Hale was sentenced to 15 years in prison. They both pleaded guilty to the crime.

Kevin, who had two counts of second-degree assault to his name, hasn't pleaded guilty to date to the murder. However, he was charged with aggravated first-degree murder in 2021.
