Luigi who is the primary suspect in the shooting of Thompson, is from a wealthy family. As per Style Magazine, Luigi’s mother Kathleen Mangione is running a traveling company and his father Louis is the owner of Lorien Health Services. The couple resides in Maryland.

What did Luigi Mangione allegedly do and why?

As per reports by PIX II, Luigi Mangione allegedly shot and killed Brian Thompson outside a Midtown hotel, on December 4, 2024. The victim had come to attend an investor meeting in that very hotel. Post murder, and after several days of manhunt, the police identified the alleged shooter to be 26-year-old Luigi Mangione.

As per reports by PIX II, the 26-year-old was taken into custody and arrested by the Altoona Police Department on “ unrelated firearm charges”, after he was recognized by a McDonalds employee. The suspect was reportedly carrying several fake IDs and a US passport.

Apart from that, a firearm and a suppressor were also recovered from Mangione, both of which resembled the same weapon that was used to kill Thompson.

Other than the above-mentioned evidence, the mask and clothing worn by Luigi Mangione, also resembled the shooter who killed the CEO. As per The Economic Times, the investigators believed that Mangione allegedly killed Thompson because of “his resentment towards corporate America.”

Several experts have suggested that Mangione’s recent alleged acts could be caused by psychological trauma, OD of medicine, and chronic pain because of a severe back injury.

As per a December 19, 2024 report by PIX II, Mangione will be extradited to New York to face murder charges. He could get a life sentence without parole as hinted by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. To date, Mangione has not admitted to the crime.
