As per reports, Mackenzie Shirilla was 17 when she crashed her Toyota Camry into the Plidco building at the intersection of Progress and Alameda drives in Strongsville, Ohio. The crash happened on July 31, 2022, and resulted in the death of her boyfriend Dominic Russo (20 at the time), and Davion Flanagan (19 at the time).

Mackenzie Shirilla is currently serving a life sentence in an Ohio prison after being found guilty of murder in 2023. She was convicted as the trial revealed that Shirilla had intentionally crashed the car at 100 mph into the building in an attempt to end the life of her boyfriend, Dominic.

As per the reports from the court trial Shirilla, Russo, and Flanagan had consumed marijuana the night before the crash and she still had more than the permissible limit of THC in her blood at the time of the accident. However, she was not convicted for her drug use, rather the prosecutors went ahead and put murder charges on her.

As per reports and statements made by Dominic Russo's parents, it was revealed that Mackenzie shared a toxic relationship with her boyfriend. The couple were dating for three years and had a series of breakups in between, with continuous threats towards Russo from Shirilla.

There were videos found from weeks before the crash where Shirilla threatened to key her boyfriend's car and damage it after she was not allowed to enter his home. Evidence also uncovered that Mackenzie Shirilla had threatened to crash Russo along with her in the car after they argued.

The threat to Russo's life was made only two weeks before the crash and a friend of Russo's also overheard Shirilla threatening to "crash the car" during the heated exchange.

As per WKYC, the trial confirmed Shirilla's attempt to murder Russo through the black box recording found in the car. It confirmed that she was driving with full sense, as she drove within speed limits before arriving at the site of the crash. The black box evidence confirmed that Shirilla pressed the gas pedal of the car to its maximum and drove into the building without any attempt to brake the car.

The Cuyahoga County court sentenced Shirilla to two concurrent life sentences, having to serve at least 15 years in prison before being eligible for parole. She was convicted on four counts of murder, four counts of felonious assault, and two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide among other charges.
