Miranda Barbour and Elytte Barbour were charged with second-degree murder in 2014 for the slaying of 42-year-old Troy LaFerrara, a Pennsylvanian resident. Miranda Barbour is being held at the Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution in Muncy. Elytte Barbour on the other hand is incarcerated at Forest, Pennsylvania's State Correctional Institution. The couple are serving their life sentences.

Why did Miranda Barbour and Elytte Barbour kill Troy LaFerrara?
Troy LaFerrara was found murdered on November 12, 2013 in Sunbury. He was stabbed brutally to death and his body was bound with a cord when the crime officers found him cold and dead. As per reports, Miranda Barbour was linked to the murder of Troy after Troy’s cellphone records showed the last dialed number to be Miranda’s. Miranda and Troy connected via Craigslist.
After the death of Troy, Miranda Barbour and Elytte Barbour first denied any involvement in the murder. However, a few hours after the first interrogation, Miranda came back and confessed to killing Troy, as an act of self-defense. According to Miranda, Troy LaFerrara was trying to touch her inappropriately and hurt her, therefore she stabbed him multiple times.
She stabbed Troy more than 20 times as per reports. Her husband, who was in the backseat covered up with a blanket, also assisted her when the time came and strangled Troy with a cord, which he claimed to do as per reports, and also revealed via the interrogation footage.
Miranda later changed her statement and said that she killed Troy because she wanted to, calling it a kill for thrill. She also revealed that she was a serial killer and most of the guys she killed were bad guys.
Post-arrest and sentencing, she revealed that she wanted to get arrested as she was tired of killing. She wanted her daughter to be adopted and raised by someone responsible post-arrest, therefore she committed a crime and her husband was not aware of this arrest plan of hers.
The Dark Side of Miranda Barbour and Elytte Barbour
As per reports, Miranda was from Alaska. She had a very scarring past as she was se*ually abused by her uncle when she was a child. Miranda’s grandfather too had a history of se*ual abuse. At age 13, Miranda had joined a satanic killer gang. She had multiple mental health issues and Elytte too wasn’t mentally stable. Miranda Barbour and Elytte Barbour were both drug addicts as well.
She also liked to play the popular slaying game Dark Soul, which increased her affinity for killing, as per reports.
After her initial arrest and two months of staying in jail, she confessed to being a serial killer. She said that she is a Satanist and has killed more than 22 individuals to date. When asked about how many more people she killed, Miranda said -
"When I hit 22, I stopped counting …"
According to the reports and as revealed by Miranda, Troy was Elytte’s first kill. However, the FBI later claimed that Miranda’s claims of killing more than 22 were fake. She was labeled a pathological liar with the traits of a serial killer.
When she was arrested, Elytte even claimed that Miranda was possessed by a demon, which made her kill Troy. However, the jury never found the supernatural claims convincing, and both the killers in this case were mentally unfit. Miranda was diagnosed with depression, ADHD, and schizophrenia too.
