The show Killers on Tape, which aired on April 2, 2023, revisits Ted Bundy's life and crimes, featuring interviews with people who knew him, including his ex-girlfriend "Sandy." Bundy, one of America's most notorious serial killers, killed at least 30 women in the 1970s. While his crimes are well-documented, little is known about his daughter, Rose Bundy. Other shows like Falling for a Killer also explore his relationships with women.

Rose is the only child of Bundy as per the records. For decades Rose Bundy's location has remained a secret. Rose lived with her mother, Carole Ann Boone, married to Bundy at the time, following her birth in 1982. But Boone turned away from Bundy's legacy after he was found guilty and subsequently executed in 1989, moving with Rose.

Ann Rule, the writer who knew Bundy, wrote The Stranger Beside Me, his biography of him. She mentioned,

"All I know is that Ted's daughter has grown up to be a fine young woman."

Although not much is known about Rose, (as mentioned by Yen, a news media) now in her 40s, she is a mother of three and relocated to England. Her mother’s efforts to protect her from her father’s dark past have largely been successful, with only vague information about Rose’s life ever surfacing.

Rose Bundy was born on October 24, 1982, while her father, Ted Bundy, was imprisoned on death row as per E! News. Carole Ann Boone, her mother, supported Bundy throughout his trial and conviction.

She even thought he was innocent even though there was a lot of evidence to the contrary. Boone and Bundy got married in court during his 1980, highly publicized trial. When their daughter was born, it caused a stir as Bundy wasn't allowed to see his wife.

Rose's early life and relationship with Ted Bundy

Rose's early life was a mess because her father was in and out of jail and fighting the law. Carole Ann Boone stood by Bundy anyway, and in 1977 she even helped him get out of jail as per Rolling Stone.

When Bundy admitted to killing many people, Boone was very upset and wanted to keep her daughter from hearing the horrible truth about her father. In 1986, Boone got a divorce from Bundy and moved from Florida to Washington with Rose to get away from all the attention from the media.

Rose was just six years old when her father was executed on January 24, 1989. It is believed that Boone severed all ties with Bundy after his confession, refusing to allow Rose any contact with him before his execution.

According to sources, Boone changed both her and Rose’s names after the execution to protect their identities and allow them to start fresh away from Bundy’s shadow.

Carole Ann Boone’s role in Rose’s life

Rose's life was greatly shaped by Ted Bundy's wife, Carole Ann Boone. Boone firmly believed Bundy was innocent, but her confidence was dashed when Bundy at last admitted to the murders.

Heartbroken and disillusioned, Boone left Florida and took Rose with her to begin a new life in Washington. Boone's choice to change their names and live under disguised names was a part of her attempt to live a new life.
