Terry Silver, played by Thomas Ian Griffith was the main antagonist of Cobra Kai season 5, still, he doesn't appear in Cobra Kai season 6 part 1 that premiered on July 18, 2024. The character was arrested and sent to jail in the finale of season 5 and will hopefully remain there throughout season 6.
Cobra Kai season 6 does not have an active antagonist. All five episodes are designed as a setup for the next part. John Kreese and Kim Dae-Un are shown preparing their students to be the bad guys during the world karate championship that'll be the focus of the next two parts.
The latest season of Cobra Kai starts an ensemble of talented actors, led by Ralph Machio and William Zabka. Part 2 of season 6 will be released on November 15, 2024.
Terry Silver is in prison in Cobra Kai season 6
Terry Silver was first introduced in the Miyagi-verse in The Karate Kid Part III as the main antagonist. He was a close friend of John Kreese from their time in the military together. Cobra Kai explores the origin of their relationship in more detail and shows their time in the Vietnam War, the experience that turned them hard-boiled but heartless.
In the film, he tries to take revenge on Daniel by laying an elaborate plan and tricking him into losing the All Valley Karate Tournament by pretending to be his teacher. In the end, it is revealed that he co-founded Cobra Kai.
After failing in the film, he returned in the fourth season of Cobra Kai and steeped in the dojo as an instructor. Together he and Kreese poisoned the impressionable minds of the young martial artists and turned friends against each other.
In the finale of season 5, he was arrested for his various crimes and put behind bars. It would be safe to assume that he is still in prison during the events of Cobra Kai season 6.
The plot of Cobra Kai season 6 explored
Cobra Kai season 6 starts right where the previous season ended. Cobra Kai dojo has been wiped out and the Valley is free from all the evil Karate Sensei. The broken friendships and relationships have been mended or are in the process.
Senseis Lawrence, LaRusso, and Toguchi are training the students in the ways of the Miyagi Do. On the other hand, the seniors are all stressed about college applications and the future beyond Karate.
The two main plots of this season are the secret box of Mr. Miyagi that was found hidden in the floor, which hints towards the 'greatest man in the Miyagi-verse' having a shady past life. The second plot is the preparation for the Sekai Taikai karate world championship.
Sekai Taikai only allows six fighters from each competing dojo, so the Miyagi Do have to choose their team, and that would mean leaving most of their students out, which is fodder for conflicts. And that's exactly what happens. All the students want to get into the team and for that, they have to defeat each other.
As the season progresses, the conflicts begin to escalate. But nothing too drastic happens till the last scene of the last episode, as part 1 is designed as the setup for the greater conflict that would play out during the competition in Barcelona, Spain.
Cobra Kai Season 6 part 1 does end with a lot of intensity and drama. Distressed with the death of her mother, Tory joins the Cobra Kai dojo once again. Her senseis, friends, and boyfriend are visibly shocked seeing her back with the bad guys. John Kreese smirks and says, "Let the games begin," indicating the beginning of an epic finale.
All seasons of Cobra Kai are available on Netflix for streaming. Fans can watch the series with a subscription.
