The steamy series is set in Leeds, so it wasn't surprising that the bustling and idyllic city in West Yorkshire, England, was a key filming location in the first season of The Couple Next Door. It served as the backdrop for several scenes in the series, which enhanced the aesthetic appeal and realism of an ordinary suburban neighborhood.

Filming in Leeds allowed the show to capture the British suburbia depicted in the story, which is essential in the plot and the character's experiences. Plenty of the city's landscapes made it into the series, including the Centenary Bridge, which spans the River Aire, and the Leeds Bridge.

The old Yorkshire Bank Chambers building located on Infirmary Street in the city was also a stand-in filming location for the fictional Royal Northern Bank.

Other scenes in the series were filmed in another West Yorkshire location, Baildon Moor. While the drama is set in Leeds, the upscale neighborhood in the series where the four main cast of The Couple Next Door met each other was shot in the Netherlands. It was where Enoch's Pete and his partner, Evie, played by Tomlinson, moved and met the other couple Danny and Becka, played by Heughan and De Gouw, respectively, was filmed. It's why the neighborhood appeared to have a sunnier climate than Leeds.

Specifically, the Blixembosch residential area in Eindhoven, Netherlands, was the stand-in location for the exterior of the American-style residential houses and neighborhood streets where the foursome lived in the series. The Netherlands was mostly where the outdoor sequences were shot.

For example, there was also a scene where Danny took Evie out on his bike, which Sam Heughan told Radio Times in a November 2023 interview was shot in the Netherlands.
