The Night Agent, an American action thriller series created by Shawn Ryan, is based on Matthew Quirk's novel. Released on Netflix on March 23, 2023, the show stars Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland and Luciane Buchanan as Rose Larkin.
The series quickly became a sensation, securing a second season within a week of its debut. The second season is set to premiere on January 23, 2025.
The story centers on FBI agent Peter and tech entrepreneur Rose as they uncover a conspiracy within the White House. Although Washington, D.C., serves as the central focus of the show, actual filming took place in British Columbia, Canada. With famous Canadian sites recreating Washington landmarks and other important settings, Vancouver replaces the U.S. capital.

The Ironworks as a college bar and Paulo's house
The Ironworks, a venue in Gastown, had two uses. The upstairs studio served as Paulo's home, where Maddie was abducted, while the main area was set as a college bar where she ran into a heated situation.
Golden Ears Provincial Park as The Campbells’ cabin
The remote cabin scenes, where Peter and Rose sought refuge, were filmed in Golden Ears Provincial Park. Its lush surroundings and isolated feel enhanced the tension during these pivotal episodes.
University of British Columbia as Georgetown University
The University of British Columbia was used to recreate Georgetown University, a key setting in the series. The Irving K. Barber Learning Centre and the chemistry building at UBC served as filming locations for scenes starring Maddie Redfield and her Secret Service agents. Library scenes were shot at St. James Anglican Church.
Shelter Island Marina as Maryland marina
The marina scenes were shot at Shelter Island Marina in Richmond. This location served as the backdrop for Peter and Rose’s safe house and a critical reunion with Chelsea and Erik.
Hilltop Diner Cafe as The Hilltop Cafe
Rose's tech work was done at the Hilltop Diner Cafe in Langley. Its genuine retro feel made it the perfect setting for these more subdued but crucial moments.
WTC Group Lindsey Terminal as DC container depot
The climactic shipping container showdown, where Maddie is rescued, took place at the WTC Group’s Lindsey Terminal. This industrial setting amplified the tension during the series' intense finale.

The final scene of the season, where Peter departs for his next mission, was filmed at Fort Langley Airport. The picturesque backdrop of the Golden Ears mountains added a cinematic touch to this emotional goodbye.
