The Night Agent became one of the highest-streamed shows on Netflix upon its premiere back in March 2023. Based on the novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk, the first season was action-packed. It followed an FBI agent named Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) as he got involved in a major conspiracy within the United States Government.
Netflix decided to carry on the series for at least one more season, which is currently under production. Netflix updated about the filming of the show on X on June 17:
"The Night Agent Season 2 has officially wrapped production!"
As per Netflix, the first season was primarily set in and around Washington D.C. and filmed primarily in Vancouver as well as in other locations including Canada's Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, and Richmond.
The Night Agent season 2 will see a major shift in location with the main storyline set to be based in New York City. The new season will also be shot across a location in South East Asia.
Night Agent season 2 filming locations explored
Fans could not be more excited when they got to learn about the renewal of the second season of Night Agent on March 29, 2023. The production was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes last year and filming commenced on February 16, 2024.
The first season was extensively filmed across British Columbia which was standing in for Washington D.C., however, as mentioned earlier the upcoming season has been confirmed to be filmed across New York. The showrunners have also confirmed Thailand, and Washington D.C. as locations for filming the upcoming season.
New York City, U.S.A.
New York City is one of the most popular and recognized U.S. cities across the world. It will be exciting to see how the storyline for the new season of Night Agent takes place around the city situated along one of the world's largest natural harbors.
Spread across five boroughs, New York is one of the most densely populated areas in the USA. The towering skyscrapers give New York a distinct skyline that has been visible in a variety of films and television shows earlier. Popular landmarks like The Statue of Liberty, The Empire State Building, Central Park, and Times Square are expected to be visible in scenes across the upcoming season.
Washington D.C., U.S.A.
The capital city of the United States of America is where the story of Peter Sutherland started in Night Agent season 1, although he is seen leaving the city at the end of the first season. The upcoming one is likely to see him return to base at least for some time.
The White House situated in Washington D.C. was Peter Sutherland's place of work and is likely to be featured again in the second season. The city is adorned with historical monuments and sites such as the Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Atlantic Council, and the Washington Monument.
Thailand
It has been confirmed by the producers that parts of the upcoming season have been filmed in Thailand. The Southeast Asian nation is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the globe as it boasts pristine beaches, lush islands, and a vibrant nightlife. The capital city of Bangkok may very likely be featured in the upcoming season of the show.
Stay tuned for more news and updates about season 2 of Night Agent scheduled to premiere on Netflix later this year.
