The upcoming episode of Snapped on Oxygen is all set to cover the very interesting case of Viktoria Nasyrova, a Russian woman who was accused of poisoning multiple individuals to steal from them. She was also allegedly part of something much bigger, perhaps a ring, which operates in this fashion.
Titled Viktoria Nasyrova, this episode of Snapped will premiere on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 6.00 PM EST. The synopsis for the episode reads:
"Authorities connect two cases, exposing an international fugitive with a ruthless pattern."
After her attack on Ukrainian immigrant Olga Tsvyk, Viktoria Nasyrova became a figure of great interest, and authorities began tracking her. After connecting her to a previous case, which also included the woman trying to poison an individual to steal his belongings, authorities arrested Viktoria on the morning of March 20, 2017.
She was eventually charged with attempted murder. The jury found her guilty and she was sentenced to 21 years in prison, with credit for time served. She continues to serve her sentence as of today.
Who is Viktoria Nasyrova and what did she do?
A Russian immigrant with a sketchy history, Viktoria Nasyrova came into the spotlight when she tried to poison and kill Ukrainian immigrant Olga Tsvyk, who also bore a striking resemblance to Nasyrova.
She went to her house in the guise of an eye-lash emergency and fed her a cheesecake that was allegedly laced with Phenazepam, a potentially lethal sedative that is prevalent in Russia.
A neighbor claimed that they saw a woman go up to Olga's bedroom with a bowl of chicken soup the next morning and come down and clean the bowl before leaving. When the neighbor went on to check on Olga, they found Olga unconscious on her bed. Olga was hospitalized at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Queens, New York. She managed to survive the sedative and eventually got better.
She soon contacted the police and a search for Viktoria Nasyrova began. As the investigation started, the police linked this case to another similar case, where Ruben Borukhov, a business owner, was given poison by his Russian date. When he passed out, she took cash, and credit cards and went on a shopping spree.
The police also found something bigger. Nasyrova was also allegedly linked to the disappearance of Alla Alekseenko in Russia. This indicated that she was possibly a fugitive who had run away from Russia and was on a crime spree in the USA.
Alekseenko's daughter, Nadia Ford, who was living in New York, became a key part of the case as she hired a private investigator to track Viktoria Nasyrova. This worked, as the private investigator followed the trail from Viktoria's social media, ultimately figuring out her location.
On the morning of March 20, 2017, he alerted the police of her location, and she was finally caught. The police soon realized that Viktoria had not just randomly attacked Olga, but was planning on stealing her identity as well, which would be easy because of their resemblance.
Where is Viktoria Nasyrova now?
She was charged with attempted murder and went on trial in January 2023. After around two hours of deliberation, the jury found her guilty of attempted murder. Nasyrova was sentenced to 21 years in prison with credit for time served. She could be out of prison in 15 years, but will possibly be deported for a different trial in Russia after this.
This case will be covered in detail in the upcoming episode of Snapped on Oxygen.
