In the third episode of House of the Dragon season 2, titled The Burning Hill, the Targaryen civil war intensifies with the Greens and the Blacks preparing for battle. The episode opens with a feud between the Brackens and the Blackwoods. With both houses taking sides in the upcoming battle, the episode features the aftermath of a bloodbath between them.

Furthermore, Daemon Targaryen captures Harrenhal, with Ser Simon Strong willingly surrendering to him and bending the knee in the name of Rhaenyra Targaryen. The House of the Dragon fans also witness a cameo from young Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock), who is seen counseling Daemon about his actions.

Alys Rivers, the witch of Harrenhal, informs him about his fate. She tells Daemon that he will die at God's eye lake at Harrenhal.

Criston Cole, in the King's Landing, mobilizes the Hightower forces with a new strategy. He marches with his soldiers and Alicent's brother, Ser Gwayne Hightower. Despite being unhappy with his father being unseated by Cole, Ser Gwayne accompanies him willingly.

Towards the end of the episode, fans see a significant reunion between Alicent and Rhaenyra at the Sept of Baelor. They discuss King Viserys Targaryen’s final words and Rhaenyra figures out that her father was talking about the prophecy of Aegon’s Dream.
