Migration: Plot
The film opens in Moosehead Pond, somewhere in a New England forest. Mack Mallard is a conservative father and the head of a duck family, and he repeatedly asks the members of the family not to step out of known territory lest they should land in trouble.
One day, another duck family, en route to Jamaica, visits them. Mack’s children are fascinated by the prospect of visiting far-off lands. However, Mack is oldfashioned and does not want to move out.
Urged by his free-spirited wife, however, Mack gives in, and the family sets out to go to Jamaica for the vacation of a lifetime. The migration is hardly a simple one, as they come across several hardships in the form of weather and human beings along the way. One particular enemy is a chef who is desperate to catch them after they reach New York.
The film shows how the bravery of stepping out of one’s comfort zone brings rewards. As Migration draws to its end, the family has overcome all obstacles and reached Jamaica, resolving many family tensions along the way as well. Moreover, the movie ends with a cliffhanger as Mack now wants to help a colony of lost penguins reach the South Pole.
