The Penguin episode 7 recap

Episode 7 of The Penguin begins with Oswald returning to Crown Point and realizing that Sofia Gigante has kidnapped his mother. He is then ambushed by Sal Maroni, who forces him to showcase his Bliss operation or risk losing his mother. When Oswald takes him underground, a firefight breaks out, resulting in Sal Maroni suffering a heart attack.

Back at the Gigante household, Sofia learns about Francis' illness and asks Julian to learn more about her. Simultaneously, she learns that her niece Gia plans to speak to the police, believing Sofia murdered her parents. However, Sofia convinces her otherwise and gets a call from Oswald.

He tells her that Sal is dead, and if she wants the keys to the empire, then she should come and get them. Sofia then sends a car to Oswald's base, which contains a bomb. She then calls up Oswald and tells him that if he wants his mother back, he should come and get her. Oswald's Bliss operation then blows up to smithereens.

Episode 7 of The Penguin also delves into Oswald's backstory, where fans get to see how his unhealthy obsession with his mother is formed and why he killed his brothers out of jealousy. The episode also introduces the mob boss Rex Calabrese, who has only been referenced so far in the show.
