White Lies season 1 episode 6 dropped on Sundance Now and AMC+ for US and Canadian audiences on Thursday, January 2, 2025. The latest episode in the ongoing South African murder mystery provided the much-needed continuation from last week's cliffhanger, with Edie getting into a car crash.
Following her cat's murder, White Lies season 1 episode 5 saw Edie go to her ex Avi's house. However, Edie walked out in the middle of their conversation, and while she was in her car, about to drive away, another car crashed into her.
White Lies season 1 episode 6 confirmed that Edie is alive after the car crash, although she's slightly injured after the incident. Her crash also brought some tension between Forty Bell and Avi, especially after the detective found something about the lawyer's past.

White Lies season 1 episode 6 sees Edie Hansen survive the car crash
The previous episode ended with a nerve-racking cliffhanger, with Edie Hansen seeing a car about to crash into her while she was about to drive away from Avi's house. Thankfully, as seen in White Lies season 1 episode 6, she's alive and mostly well.
Early scenes in the episode showed her awake as she was wheeled into the hospital following the incident. Avi, who witnessed the car crash, was with her at the hospital and essentially became her caregiver. The doctor told Edie in White Lies season 1 episode 6, there wasn't a lot of bleeding from the accident. She did have a mild concussion and some intercostal bruising and was advised to avoid walking to thinking for several days.
As seen in the latest episode, her leg, which was on the side where the car crashed, looked badly bruised, but she's well, all things considered. Edie's baby is also okay, which her doctor confirmed, and it was how Avi learned about the baby. He also discovered that it was the reason Edie broke up with him before and that she was considering getting a termination.

Hofmeyr visits Edie at Avi's house in White Lies season 1 episode 6
When Edie left the hospital, she went with Avi to his home, although she wasn't particularly enthusiastic about it. But while in Avi's home, he told Edie not to go out of the house or to tell anyone where she was in case there was still some threat to her life.
Throughout the first half of White Lies season 1 episode 6, Avi appears like Edie's night in shining armor, her protector, especially when he tells Forty Bell that he will take care of Edie. However, Forty wasn't entirely convinced of his intentions, especially after he found Avi in Edie's apartment. Although Avi said he was only there to get Edie's thing, that the apartment was open, and that he had no nefarious plans, Forty still asked Peri Zondo to look Avi up.
It was how Forty learned that Avi was once Hofmeyr's lawyer, which he told Edie about, especially because of Edie's suspicions that Hofmeyr had something to do with Andrew's murder and her accident. So, when Edie saw Hofmeyr visit her at Avi's house with some flowers, she was visibly shocked. No one was supposed to know where she was, so she thought Avi's connection with Hofmeyr meant he told the man her whereabouts.
However, when she confronted Avi about it, he denied any recent connection with Hofmeyr. He acknowledged working with him eight years ago and told Edie that Hofmeyr must have been following her to know where she was staying.

White Lies season 1 episode 6 sees Daniel in a precarious situation
Daniel McKenzie was labeled a racist in White Lies season 1 episode 6, which put him at odds with a schoolmate. In the early investigation of his father's murder, Daniel told the police that he saw a black man at the time of the murder. It was quoted in the latest news article by Edie's workmate.
While there was nothing wrong with Daniel's previous account of the incident, White Lies season 1 episode 5 saw Robert getting charged with murder after a gun was found in his locker. Now, in the article, as Daniel's black schoolmate pointed out, he appeared racist because he said he saw a black man when it was Robert who was the killer. He accused Daniel of faking that he saw a black man and that he only mentioned it to the police before because he was racist.
When Edie couldn't help him get a retraction from the newspaper, Daniel stormed to the office to find the one who wrote the piece, Edgar. When he threatened Edgar with a lawsuit if he didn't make a retraction for calling him a racist, the reporter denied that he was the one who wrote the headline. Instead, he encouraged Daniel to give his side of the story and to get his narrative out there, which Daniel did off-screen.
However, as the episode's logline teased, Daniel's ill-advised statement put his and Jamie's lives in danger. In the last scenes of White Lies season 1 episode 6, while Daniel was arguing with Jamie, a masked man with a gun can be seen in the security camera, and he's about to enter the McKenzie house.
