Jamie Foxx recently opened up on how his daughter Anelise helped him when he had a brain bleed in the past, leading to a stroke. Also known as Anelise Bishop, she was born to Jamie's former partner Kristin Grannis. According to Citi Muzik, Kristin has pursued a career as a licensed marriage and family therapist.
While appearing on the Netflix special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…, on December 10, 2024, the actor revealed that the brain bleed happened last year when he was busy on the set of his upcoming project, Back in Action.
The Django Unchained star recalled his days at the hospital, saying that his vitals were not in control at one point and the doctors believed that they would lose him. Jamie explained the same by saying:
"There was a 13 or 14 day period where they said, we've gotta keep him calm and we've given him every medication that they could. It's not working, we gotta keep him calm because his vitals are so high we're going to lose him."
Jamie Foxx then referred to Anelise by saying:
"That's when a miracle happened, and that miracle was working through my youngest daughter. She's 14. I didn't want her to see me like that but she snuck into my hospital room with her guitar and she said, 'I know what my daddy needs … that's my daddy.'"
Kristin Grannis reportedly met Jamie Foxx while working in PR
As mentioned, the Horrible Bosses 2 star has a daughter named Anelise from his previous relationship with Kristin Grannis. Apart from them, he shares another child, Corinne, with his former partner, Connie Kline, as reported by People magazine.
Kristin has been residing in Agoura Hills, California for a long time. However, she has kept other details related to her early life away from the spotlight over the years. Kristin and Jamie reportedly met when the former was working in PR and the relationship became public in 2017, as per Buzz Nigeria.
The outlet also stated that Kristin reportedly left her job when she became pregnant. Kristin is 47 years old as of this year and has shared a close relationship with her father Richard Grannis. She completed her graduation from the California-based Antioch University.
While Jamie Foxx’s daughters have always accompanied him on different occasions, Kristin and Connie have rarely made any appearances alongside him. However, the Beat Shazam host was once spotted with Connie back in August 2023 in Los Angeles. There are no details available on when the duo separated.
Jamie’s first daughter Corinne has been pursuing a career in the world of acting. She has been featured in films like 47 Meters Down: Uncaged and was also a model in the past, walking the runway at various shows. Foxx’s second daughter Anelise has pursued her interest in music and sports. She is 16 years old as of 2024.
Jamie Foxx said that his daughter's music brought a big change
While speaking on the special, Jamie Foxx became emotional as he stated that his vitals were in control when Anelise played the guitar. He recalled that the nurses were surprised and even ran towards his room when Anelise told them she got her father.
Jamie described Anelise's guitar as a "spiritual defibrillator" and invited the latter to the stage following which they began performing after hugging each other. Foxx was also spotted saying to Anelise:
"Play, play, play. Let them see your talent, shine Anelise, shine baby."
Towards the end, Jamie Foxx expressed gratitude to Anelise for being there with him "when all was lost." Anelise said in response that Jamie had to get better so that they could perform alongside each other one day.
