The new People Magazine Presents: Crimes Of The 2010s brings the story of Holly Bobo's murder and her many killers to life, with many curves to the story, Tennessee Stalker, airing August 20, 2024, at 8:00 pm EST.

Holly Bobo was last seen alive on April 13, 2011, outside her family's home in Darden. The case of a young lady gone missing shook the whole community, and a nationwide search was launched for the 20-year-old nursing student in Tennessee.

In September 2014, well more than three and a half years later, they found her body in a wooded area of Decatur County, Tennessee. This was a step toward investigating her disappearance and murder to prosecute a series of suspects, some directly and others more peripherally associated with the commission of the crime.

Key among the suspects were Zachary Adams, Jason Autry, and John Dylan Adams, among many others. The ring leader, Zachary Adams, is currently serving his life sentence, while his accomplices, Jason Autry and John Dylan Adams, are also in prison serving queuing jail terms after being found guilty.

Key suspects in Holly Bobo's murder case

1) Zachary Adams

Zachary Adams is the first of all suspects to be charged with Holly Bobo's murder and kidnapping charges. He was charged with especially aggravated kidnapping, first-degree murder, and r*pe in March 2014.

In 2017, the jury convicted Adams of first-degree murder, and he was sentenced to life in prison with no eligibility for probation parole, plus 50 years for other crimes related to the case.

Zachary Adams is serving his time at the Northeast Correctional Complex, Mountain City, Tennessee.

2) Jason Autry

Jason Autry was also originally accused of kidnapping and first-degree murder with Zachary Adams, but Autry offered testimony through which he managed to piece together the timeline of the events that had culminated in the eventual killing of Holly Bobo.

He later accepted a plea deal that made him plead guilty to a reduced charge of facilitating murder. Jason Autry was sentenced to eight years in prison.

3) John Dylan Adams

John Dylan Adams is the younger brother of Zachary Adams. He was also charged with especially aggravated kidnapping, first-degree murder, and r*pe.

In 2018, he pleaded guilty to the two counts of facilitation of first-degree murder and especially aggravated kidnapping. He was sentenced to 15 years for the first charge and 35 years for the latter without parole. As of now, he is reported to be an inmate in the Northwest Correctional Complex of Tiptonville, Tennessee.

4) Shayne Austin

Another individual connected to the case was Shayne Austin, a friend of Zachary Adams. He was initially granted immunity in the hopes of exchanging information in the case. The immunity was withdrawn since he never disclosed any information that was of significance. Before he could face charges, Austin committed suicide in 2015.

5) Jeff and Mark Pearcy

In July 2014, Jeff and Mark Pearcy were arrested for having a video where Holly Bobo was being assaulted. A former roommate of Jeff testified he showed her the video, but he denied it. No video was ever found, and the charges were later dropped. They are not mentioned in the trial of the main suspect, Zach Adams.

Their current whereabouts is not known.

The long road to justice

Seven years of arrests and trials for the killers of Holly Bobo saw each turn of events reveal fresh details about the overall tragedy that had unraveled in 2011.

Holly Bobo's murder devastated the town of Darden and beyond. Her disappearance united many in the search for answers, and her story remains a sobering reminder that danger could always be lurking—even in the smallest and closest-knit communities.
