Becky, a spirit believed to be in contact with paranormal investigator Don Philips, has been a rather mystical and speculative figure. She is the subject of Netflix's Unsolved Mysteries: My Paranormal Partner. This episode explores Don’s abilities as a paranormal investigator and his supposed association with Becky.

Philips asserts that she assists him with his investigations, giving him crucial perspectives and aiding him in uncovering paranormal activities. The episode includes a series of tests by parapsychologist Steve Mera who tests Philips' abilities. An unbeliever in Philip's alleged powers, Mera's perception of Philip's claims is altered.

The question about Becky's existence remains debatable, depending on those who fully believe in paranormal entities and those who don't.

Origins of Becky

Don Philips reportedly first met Becky in 2011, when he was working on a case at a house in Leicester, UK. The homeowner Gaynor Issitt had been reporting disturbances, so Philips had agreed to take on the case. In this investigation, Philips said that he had contacted two spirits. One was malevolent and the other benevolent.

The benevolent spirit introduced herself as Becky. She was reportedly a 35-year-old mum of two and a school teacher who died in a train or plane crash in 1985. She was like a guiding influence in Philips' life. Unlike any of the other spirits, she remained with Philips and assisted him in various investigations. This relationship between them formed the basis of his work.

Her role in the investigations

She plays a significant role in Philips' investigations. According to Philips, she provides him with insights that help him solve cases.

Steve Mera, a parapsychologist, tested Philips in the Netflix show Unsolved Mysteries: My Paranormal Partner. Mera was skeptical at first but became impressed with Philips' demonstrations.

Skepticism and controversy

Skepticism prevails that Becky does not exist. First of all, there is no evidence that a person by her name, who worked as a school teacher, died in a plane or train crash in 1985. Author and fellow paranormal investigator, who appeared on the Netflix series, Barry Fitzgerald is not convinced by the supernatural entity's back story.

Philips maintains his belief and asserts that though stories about her background may raise eyebrows, but regardless of that she helps him with his investigations. He remains firm in stating that her guidance has never led him astray. He asserts that she drives his work and ensures that he retains his standing in the paranormal community.

Influence over Philips' work

Her influence on Philips' work has allegedly proved to be highly effective. She developed his capacity to carry out precise paranormal investigations, which distinguish him from other investigators.

Philips makes content related to paranormal subjects through Raven Media Productions LT, his production house. He has a YouTube channel where he shares his experiences and findings.
