The Nevada man with six ex-wives, Thomas Randolph, or the Black Widower, became the focus of the headlines for years as his wife's murder case unraveled during his trial. Thomas had been married to Sharon Causse when she was shot in the head by an alleged hitman, Michael Miller.

As authorities found an eerily similar incident occurred with his second wife, Becky Gault, they began an investigation into the past Randolph shared with his six wives. He earned the moniker of The Black Widower as four of his ex-wives died under mysterious and unknown circumstances.

The three episodes of The Black Widower: The Six Wives of Thomas Randolph delve into Randolph's journey as it airs on July 15, 2024, at 9 pm EST on Investigation Discovery.

The official synopsis reads:

"Over eight years, the infamous Black Widower Thomas Randolph stands trial for the murder of his wife and her handyman; the victims' families are ready to see justice served, but a surprise ruling from the Nevada Supreme Court threatens everything."

4 of Thomas Randolph's 6 wives are dead

Thomas William Randolph was born to Dorothy Arlene Randolph in Fairfield, Illinois in 1955. Thomas' father worked in the Air Force while his mother worked as a bookkeeper while taking care of him. Thomas wanted to grow up to become a rock and roll star and he had an outgoing personality.

Thomas married Kathy Thomas at the age of 20 and they had a child, Krista. However, Kathy and Thomas separated after seven years. He then married Becky Gault who was found dead with a bullet to her head. Thomas collected the payout from Becky's five life insurance policies and also faced charges of murder.

However, he was eventually acquitted and his records were expunged as he pleaded guilty to felony witness tampering wherein he tried to kill Eric Tarantino using an undercover police agent. Regardless, Thomas married Leona Stapleton but separated in February 1995. She passed away due to lung cancer in 1996.

Thomas Randolph then married Gayna Allmon who fled after an alleged accidental misfiring of one of Thomas' firearms. After Thomas and Gayna's separation, he married Francis Thomas who passed away in April 2004 from heart surgery. His next wife was Sharon Causse, whom he met in 2005.

Thomas was suspected of being involved in the deaths of Francis Thomas and Becky Gault. While Gault's murder trial was long-drawn, it was Thomas Randolph who had sued the hospital where Francis was kept, to receive a handsome settlement.

What was the Black Widower charged with?

The Black Widower was arrested and charged with the murders of Sharon Causse and Michael Miller. The jury looked into both the evidence and the case documents to draw a parallel between the deaths of his previous wives. Thomas Randolph was given two death sentences.

According to Thomas' appeal, the judgment was reversed by the Vegas Supreme Court which considered the introduction of evidence from Becky's 1986 death to cause the jurors to be biased. He was retried in 2023, found guilty of the same charges, and sentenced to 60 years to life in prison.

The Black Widower was charged with two counts of murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.
