With Landman already having a stellar cast with actors like Bill Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, and Demi Moore, the series finale introduced another familiar name into the fold. Acclaimed American actor Andy Garcia debuted in the finale of season 1 as Galino. He plays a cartel boss who saves Tommy and sets himself up for a major role, which looks like it will be expanded upon in season 2.
The season finale of Landman, titled The Crumbs of Hope, premiered on Paramount+ on January 12, 2025. It brought a close to the first season of the show and set up major plotlines that very well set up a season 2 of the show. Amidst the chaos of it all, Garcia's cameo made a huge impact on how things will play out in the future of the series.
With Garcia now a part of Landman, it certainly looks like Galino is set to have a major role going forward and will be working right alongside Thornton's Tommy.
Galino's role in Landman season 1 finale explained
The Landman season 1 finale deals with the aftermath of Monty's death. Episode 9 of the show explored how Monty's poor health was catching up to him, and following his hospitalization, he made Tommy the Vice President of Operations of M-Tex. Due to his death, Tommy then becomes in charge of M-Tex, owning the company and even owning a lot of Monty's estate.
While Tommy wants to sell off the company and live off its riches, he tries convincing Cami to do so, but she decides to go all in on risky investments for the company. Following this, Tommy then tries getting Rebecca back to be the main lawyer, but in the midst of all that, he ends up getting kidnapped by the cartel. It is revealed that the cartel "boss" called Jiminez was the one who abducted him.
However, just as Tommy is about to be killed by the cartel, he is saved by the real boss known as Galino, played by Andy Garcia. Positioning himself as a dignified man, it is revealed that Galino is someone who wants to get away from the life of selling drugs and violence and rather wants to get into the world of oil drilling to make money.
He then strikes up a deal with Tommy to merge the cartel and oil drilling business together. This effectively sets up a major plotline for season 2, as it looks like Tommy will have to deal with Galino as well. Not to mention, Garcia will also be having a major role in the show going forward.
