Well-known actress and writer Cherie Johnson is trending in the headlines after she shared a video on her Instagram page. The video featured her requesting that the Mexican people start a strike against America. The 48-year-old is known for her appearances in shows such as Punky Brewster alongside films like Crush, Who Can I Run To, and Diva Diaries.

Johnson posted the video on August 18, 2024, where she was spotted wearing a white outfit along with glasses. She started by saying:

"I am just so tired of hearing people talk about illegals in this country. And all they talk about is Mexicans. I truly wish that every Mexican will go on strike for a week. Just one week."

Cherie Johnson stated that the strike would "cripple America" and that the latter would appreciate the same. Johnson then removed her glasses and continued:

"I am sitting here and I am eating a salad and I am getting pissed off and pissed off and pissed off hearing people talking about illegals, illegals, and illegals. Like Mexicans are the only one in this country illegal. What about everybody else? What about the white people? What about the agents?"

Cherie Johnson criticized the fact that all those people were being ignored who flew from other countries or entered America through the border from Mexico. Towards the end of the video, she once again told the Mexicans to go on a strike against America and added:

"Let these motherf*ckers see what it feels like not to have your labour."

The comments section of the post was additionally flooded with responses from Cherie Johnson's followers, with a user slamming the media for always speaking about "Latinos and Africans." Netizens even praised Johnson for sharing the video, with one person saying that she was speaking the truth.

Apart from acting, she had a successful career as a writer, where she wrote books such as Around The World Twice and Peaches and Cream. Starting from the 1980s, she became an important part of films and television, and her debut happened in the sitcom Punky Brewster.

The show aired for four seasons until 1988 and Cherie Johnson played one of the leads. She told Glamour magazine that the show's popularity helped her make a lot of friends and it was created by her uncle, David W. Duclon. Johnson said that a few elements of the story were taken from her life and continued:

"My mother was also a single mom, so it was like I had two sets of parents. When she went to work, Uncle David was my babysitter. He took things that happened in the house and made it into this TV show. That's how I gave myself the job, basically, at the age of six."
