Hannah Berner has become a prominent name in the entertainment industry in the past couple of months. Be it conversing with people on the sidewalks on a myriad of topics or being a part of comedy gigs, the comedian is everywhere.

With the release of her new Netflix special, Hannah Berner: We Ride At Dawn, the popular personality has reached new heights of stardom. However, a lesser-known fact about Hannah Berner is that she is married to fellow comedian Des Bishop.

As per Berner, the two met via the classic Gen Z way, with Bishop sliding into Berner's Instagram DM and asking her out. However, Hannah claims that Des had caught her eye way earlier when she had gone to watch him perform at a comedy event.

Hannah Berner and Des Bishop clicked instantaneously when they met. A lot of it had to do with their similar comedy background. Des, who was already an established comedian, was drawn towards Hannah who was fairly new to the scene. Hannah, on the other hand, was already a fan of Des's work.

For the uninitiated, Des has been working as a comic in Ireland since 1990. During his initial days, he was very active at the International Comedy Cellar, an exclusive venue established by Irish comics to support comedy. In 2002, he appeared in In America, a film in which he portrayed the role of a high stockbroker who raps in the back of a New York cab.

In 2004, he reached new heights of popularity with his show The Des Bishop Work Experience on RTÉ Two. In 2006 Des also appeared in a TV show, Joy in the Hood. Since then, he has been a part of several comedy gigs in Ireland and outside, including China.

Hannah Berner and Des Bishop's romance is every Wattpad lover's dream

As mentioned previously, Des and the Hannah Berner: We Ride At Dawn star first started talking via Instagram. Their brief encounter led to the two meeting for coffee in Westhampton, New York, as per People.

According to the couple, they have been inseparable since they met, and after six months of Des sliding into Hannah's DM's, he proposed to her on Valentine's Day. Recollecting her memory of the simple yet heartwarming proposal Hannah said to People in 2021:

"When we first started dating, Des would send me this really funny video, singing videos, that would make me laugh. On Valentine's Day, I woke up and I had a video of him singing, which I hadn't gotten since the summer. And then it ends with him being like, 'I have a surprise for you'."

She continued by saying that soon after Des spoke of the surprise, she saw him in front of her, on his knee, holding out a diamond ring. She said:

"I'm in bed with my Invisalign on, and my breath is terrible. And he's just kneeling on the side, and then he just pulls out the ring. I think I just made weird crying noises."

Following their engagement in February 2021, Des also spoke to the publication where he shed light on their relationship and highlighted how he was sure about Hannah being "the one" for him. He said:

"I was fairly certain fairly quickly that Hannah was the one for me. When I met her the first time, my immediate thought was not only is she beautiful, but I just want to spend all the time with her because she's so much fun."

The pair married on May 13, 2022, in a private ceremony at Westhampton Beach, surrounded by friends and family.
