The Chi Season 6 ended with a massive twist as the finale saw the deaths of two major characters. One was Alicia's son Rob (Iman Shumpert). The other character was the ruthless mob boss, Otis 'Douda' Perry (Curtiss Cook).

Otis 'Douda' Perry's death at the hands of Nuck, a former gang member, is expected to change the trajectory of the series going forward. Douda was the leader of one of the most ruthless street gangs in the South Side of Chicago, and he left a wake of dead bodies in his rise to the top. The death of the polarizing character was anticipated in the season 6 finale of The Chi.

Curtiss Cook's Otis 'Douda' Perry first appeared in the second season of The Chi. He ran one of the most successful pizzerias in Chicago's Southside by the day. He was a respected and civic-minded citizen upon his first introduction. However, the truth about Douda was so revealed— he was the leader of the notorious 63rd Street Mob.

Douda's primary business was that of a drug lord, with a kingpin-like influence on the South Central neighborhood in Chicago. He became a season regular in the fourth season of The Chi. Since then, he rose to become one of the most ruthless characters on the show, ruling over his younger gang members with an iron fist. He killed many prominent characters including Pastor Jackson, Reg Taylor, Quentin Dickinson, and Alonso.

In an exclusive interview with the New York Post in June 2021, Curtiss Cook said the following about his character Douda:

"I think [Perry’s] heart and passion was always about making a difference, a change, and making people rethink who he is. Otis is a self-made man who was brought up in a society that didn’t honor or respect who he was and didn’t give him the opportunities he felt he needed."

Cook further elaborated:

"He’s educated himself and made himself into an important businessman, not without the help of his wife [played by Kandi Burruss] and the gang leaders who also molded him into what he is today."

Douda rose to become the primary antagonist for certain characters in the series. By the Season 6 finale of The Chi, his primary antagonist was Alicia, who wanted to put an end to Douda's reign on the streets.

How was Douda killed in the Season finale of The Chi Season 6?

Douda was shot by one of his former gang members, Nuck. The former mayor and criminal boss was shot dead by his former goon Nuck (Cortez Smith) after a season-long power struggle between Douda and Alicia (played by Lynn Whitfield).

Alicia and Douda's rivalry had been brewing all through the sixth season, with Alicia warning Douda for his life in Episode 14 of the season. However, in a shocking turn of events it was Nuck who ended up shooting Douda. Alicia had intercepted Douda in a smoking room and pointed the gun at him when Nuck showed up and shot Douda.

Nuck was Douda's former number-two man, who Douda beat up and ousted, after learning of Nuck's side deals. Nuck had even more reasons to shoot Douda since he almost killed Nuck's child and baby mother, Kiesha, in Episode 15 while trying to get to Emmett by blowing up his car.

Douda's death was not very shocking owing to his rising number of enemies, all waiting to take his life at the first opportunity. However, the death of Douda is a loss for fans who grew accustomed to the hardline Chicago mob boss.
