Prime Video released the official trailer of The Office Australia on September 18, 2024, featuring Felicity Ward as the boss. It is the latest adaptation of the famous mockumentary-style comedy series and the first to feature a female lead.

Felicity Ward is a "London-based comedian, actor, writer, and knucklehead," per her official website. She's a multi-award-winning comedian who has also made several TV appearances. She has toured sell-out shows across the world, with several upcoming gigs throughout the United Kingdom from October to the end of the year. Fans have seen her in Spicks and Specks and The Ronnie Johns Half Hour.

In the upcoming The Office Australia, which is set to air on Prime Video on October 18, Ward will star as the Flinley Craddick managing director, Hannah Howard.

Felicity Ward's career as a comedian and actress

Felicity Ward has made a successful career in stand-up comedy, and television. She has also dipped her toes into making movies. She started her show-business career writing and starring in the Australian sketch comedy series, The Ronnie Johns Half Hour. It aired for 26 episodes from 2005 to 2006, which viewers have described as "refreshingly silly" and an "entertainment earthquake."

After the show's success, Ward left the television scene for several years to focus on stand-up comedy. Per her website, she candidly mixes humor with personal anecdotes of her struggle with mental health in her stand-up. It inspired her documentary called Felicity's Mental Mission (2015), where she took the challenge of breaking down the stigma around mental illness.

She told News Australia in 2014 that her own struggles inspired her to make the documentary, saying:

"It got so bad for me, at one point it almost forced me to quit stand up. It was only after talking to other people who also suffered that I realized how many people didn't talk about it."

The comic from New South Wales, Australia, also returned onstage for a Netflix special. It is a candid show about anxiety called What If There's No Toilet? She told The Guardian all about it in 2015, revealing that her "experience with irritable bowel syndrome and [her] anxiety are inextricably linked." She said she "can't talk about one without the other."

Outside of the stand-up comedy scene, Felicity Ward went back to television for several guest-starring roles. She worked on The Librarians, Sleuth 101, Laid, Josh, and Ronny Chieng: International Student.

The Aussie comedian also appeared in films, including Any Questions for Ben?, where she played Emily, and The Inbetweeners 2, where she assumed Lizzie's role. She also had more significant roles in Wakefield as Nurse Collette and in the Lisa Kudrow-led series Time Bandits, where she played Mrs. Haddock.

What to know about Felicity Ward in The Office Australia

The Australian version of The Office will revolve around Howard trying to keep her "work family" together after she receives the news that their brand is going to shut down. She goes into survival mode and makes outlandish plots to reach impossible targets as the threat of losing everyone in the office looms over her.

The Office Australia will be available for streaming on Prime Video in October, with Edith Poor, Steen Raskopoulos, and Shari Sebbens joining Ward in the cast list.
