Raising Voices is a new Netflix teen drama miniseries comprising eight episodes. It is based on the novel Ni Una Màs by Miguel Sàez Carral and premiered on Netflix on May 31, 2024. It is directed by Eduard Cortès, David Ulloa, and Marta Font, and stars Nicole Wallace, Clara Galle, and Aïcha Villaverde, among others, in pivotal roles.

The title focuses on a teenager whose life takes a turn after she reports being se*ually assaulted. She showcases her bravery and perseverance as she speaks up against injustice and mistreatment, regardless of the repercussions. The title ends with the arrest of the history teacher, Mr. Juan Lopez Sanchez, who has a record of abusing students. His character is played by Spanish actor Ivàn Massaguè.

The official synopsis of the series reads:

"After a teenager reports a se*ual assault at her high school, the investigation upends her life and tests her relationships."

Who is the history teacher in Raising Voices?

Mr. Juan Lopez Sanchez is the history teacher in Raising Voices. In the series, he has a history of se*ually abusing and exploiting his students, however, no one has reported him or raised their voice against his misconduct yet.

When Alma (played by Nicole Wallace) learns from her friend Breta (played by Teresa de Mera) that Mr. Juan mol*sted her when she was young, she decides to take him down with a plan. She opts for one-on-one tutoring with Sanchez to learn the truth for herself.

When Berta takes her life, Alma hangs a banner outside her school and tells the other students about how their history teacher had mol*sted several students and had not been charged guilty yet.

Later in the series when she uploads a picture of him on social media, another student comes out and speaks about how she was mol*sted by Mr. Juan. With enough evidence now available, the history teacher is finally arrested by the local police.

Ivàn Massaguè portrays the teacher in the series. The 47-year-old actor has starred in movies and shows including Phenomena (2023), Welcome To The Family (2018-2019), and more.


Who else stars in Netflix's Raising Voices?

1) Nicole Wallace as Alma

Spanish actress Nicole Wallace is best known for her appearances in movies and series like My Fault (2023), Skam España (2018-2020), Vera (2023), Parot (2021), and more.

In this teen drama, she plays the role of Alma, a student who is unconcerned about what others may think of her. She makes a public announcement about a ra*ist who is hiding within the school and although her life turns upside down, she does not back down. She also plays a major role in getting the history teacher arrested.


2) Clara Galle as Greta

Clara Galle is a Spanish actress who is popular for her role as Raquel in Through My Window (2022). This 22-year-old actress has also starred in multiple movies and TV shows including El Internado (2007-2010), and The Boarding School: Las Cumbres (2021-2023).

In this miniseries, Clara is Alma’s best friend who loves her deeply.
