Who was Lori Ruff? Details explored
Kimberly Maria McLean was born on October 16, 1968, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to parents James and Deanne Cassidy McLean. She grew up in the Delaware Valley with her sister till her parents filed for a divorce. Deanne then married Robert Becker and gained custody of Kimberly and her sister with the new family settling down in Wyncote.
Kimberly struggled with her new family and environment while enrolling in Bishop McDevitt High School. She moved to King of Prussia, a nearby town, in 1986 and began living independently. While she lived away from her family, Kimberly went through a drastic transition and undertook the identity of Becky Sue Turner on May 20, 1988, when she obtained Sue's birth certificate.
Becky Sue Turner was a two-year-old girl who passed away along with her two siblings after her home caught on fire in Fife, Washington in 1971. Kimberly got hold of Becky Sue Turner's birth certificate from Bakersfield, California. As Turner had passed away in a different state from her place of birth, it made tracing her short-lived life challenging for the authorities.
Kimberly made use of the situation by traveling to Idaho where she made use of Turner's birth certificate to get hold of a state ID card for herself under a new identity. The New York Daily News reported that Kimberly changed her identity to Becky Sue Turner on June 16 and then appeared in court in Dallas on July 5, 1988, to assume the new name of Lori Erica Kennedy.
Kimberly, now known as Lori Erica Kennedy, filed all her paperwork under the new identity. She filed for her new birth date to be July 18, 1969, got hold of a social security number, and Texas driver's license, and passed the GED to increase her chances of employment.
In 1990, Lori enrolled herself in the Dallas County Community College from where she went on to study at the University of Texas at Arlington. Lori graduated with a degree in business administration and moved to Bedford, Texas in 2001. Two years later, Lori met her to-be husband, Jon Blakely Ruff or Blake, at a Bible study class.
Lori told her husband, Blake, that she originated from Arizona and that she had grown up as an orphan with no siblings. Aside from these facts, Lori was reluctant to open up about her past and her strange behavior especially around their daughter led Blake to file for a divorce before Lori's death.
