Martin Mull, known for his role as Russell in Two and a Half Men, unexpectedly died on June 27, 2024, at the age of 80. Apart from his work as an actor, Mull was also a talented musician and painter.

Mull's daughter Maggie announced his demise through her official Instagram account the following day. She shared a black-and-white photo of Martin Martin with a dog and mentioned that he had been struggling with illness, which led to his demise. She further stated:

"He was known for excelling at very creative discipline imaginable and also for doing Red Roof Inn commercials. He would find that joke funny. My dad will be deeply missed by his wife and daughter, by his friends and coworkers, by fellow artists and comedians and musicians, and – the sign of a truly exceptional person – by many, many dogs."

Martin Mull's mother Betty was also active in the entertainment industry. Although Mull initially aimed for a career in painting, he shifted his focus to music after organizing various bands.

As a musician, the Bob's Burger star released many albums, including I'm Everyone I Ever Loved. His acting career began in the 70s, and he was last seen as Sheriff Reardon in the Apple TV+ series, The Afterparty.

Mull is survived by his wife Wendy Haas, who has worked with different bands as a vocalist and keyboardist, and his daughter, Maggie.

Martin Mull appeared in various films and TV shows throughout his career, including a recurring role as Russell on Two and a Half Men. In the show, Russell was the owner of a pharmacy occasionally visited by Charlie.

In the show, Russell was married three times and did not have any children, paying alimony to all of them. He was a part of many important moments throughout the show, including the time when Charlie arrived at his pharmacy to get sleeping pills and Russell told him to purchase medicated marijuana.

Charlie later attempted to arrange a date with Evelyn for Russell, but Evelyn later left with another person for a one-night stand. Russell was spotted during Charlie's funeral and revealed that Charlie owed him $38,000 in exchange for drugs.

There was another moment when Chelsea had flu and Charlie had to get tampons and medicine from Russell's pharmacy. Russell provided a cold medicine with codeine, which led to a response from Charlie, questioning about a prescription for codeine. However, Russell replied by asking Charlie if he was a cop.

Russell appeared in six episodes of the show that aired between 2008 and 2013. Two and a Half Men originally premiered on September 22, 2003, and continued for 11 more seasons until 2015.


Martin Mull portrayed major roles in many TV shows

Also known as Martin Eugene Mull, he acquired his degree in fine arts and a master's in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. Before his successful career in the world of music, he performed at many nightclubs. He then shifted to an apartment in Boston and joined a recording studio.

However, Martin Mull struggled with financial issues after his marriage with artist Kristin Johnson since he resigned from his job. Kristin revealed in an interview with The Times that they had no money and Martin's performances were not attended by a lot of people.

While he also appeared in films, his first role as an actor was in the satirical soap opera, Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. He portrayed Garth Gimble and Barth Gimble in 49 episodes and soon started to grab major roles, including Leon Carp in Roseanne.

Furthermore, Martin Mull played Willard Kraft in Sabrina the Teenage Witch and was featured in an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles. Coming to his film career, he appeared in many successful projects such as Mrs. Doubtfire, 101 Dalmatians, Killers, and A Futile and Stupid Gesture.
