Played by John Allen Nelson, Reid showed up on Mel’s doorstep during Season 5's Christmas-themed episodes, which aired on November 30, 2023.

Virgin River Season 6's second episode features a flashback sequence showcasing the first meeting between Everett and Mel's mother, Sarah. Set in 1972, Everett and Sarah crossed paths after the latter tried to hitchhike a ride on the side of the road. After offering her a ride, Everett's car broke down in Virgin River. Callum Kerr is a Scottish actor, model and country music singer. His breakout role was playing PC George Kiss in the British soap opera Hollyoaks from 2020 to 2021.

Additionally, he played Duncan in Four Weddings and a Funeral, a 2019 adaptation of the eponymous 1994 classic film by Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton. He also played Frederick VI of Swabia in the historical drama series Glow & Darkness and Wade Stellings in the musical drama series, Monarch.

As per a Deadline report from February 2024, Netflix was developing a prequel series centered around the love story between Mel's parents. It is being helmed by the showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, who confirmed to Deadline on December 19, 2024, that the project was "still in development."

However, it must be noted that Netflix has not officially greenlit the series or confirmed any cast members, including Kerr and Rothe, as of this writing.
