House of the Dragon Season 2 is all geared up to introduce one of the most interesting characters in the show so far. With only three episodes left until the season's conclusion, Sharako Lohar, described as "an eccentric Lysene commander of the Triarchy fleet" is expected to make an appearance in the show very soon.
Sharako Lohar's role will be portrayed by YouTuber, actress, playwright, and trans icon, Abigail Thorn, best known for her work in projects such as Ladhood, Django, and The Acolyte. The news of her association with the show was first revealed by the actress herself via her Instagram account.
On June 5, ahead of House of the Dragon Season 2's release, Thorn conveyed the news via a video message on the platform, where she said:
"I'm in House of the Dragon. Surprise! The new season drops on Max in 2 weeks time and I play Sharako Lohar. If you're already a Game of Thrones fan, you'll know that she is one of the most bad**s cutthroats of all time! The reason I got so buff last year is because I have an a*s kicking action role in the biggest show in the world."
Thorn continued the message by highlighting the wonderful experiences she had working on the project including the audition process, rehearsals, and filming. She also vouched that her character would soon rise to the top and become the audience's favourite when she arrives on screen.
Abigail Thorn plays Sharako Lohar in House of the Dragon
As pointed out before, Abigail Thorn has been tasked with the job of portraying the role of Sharako Lohar, commander of the Triarchy fleet in House of the Dragon Season 2. Although Sharako's part in George R.R. Martin's book was slightly less, the character is expected to assume a much more important part in the show.
It has been alleged that the onscreen version of Sharako has been merged with Racallio Ryndoon's character in the books, also a commander of the Triarchy fleet. In that case, Thorn's character can be expected to play a pivotal part in the war between the Greens and the Blacks.
2024 has been an important year for Abigail Thorn's career
2024 has been a big year for Abigail Thorn with two ambitious projects under her belt. First, she appeared as Eurus, a witch ensign in Disney Plus' The Acolyte which is coming to an end on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Next, she is expected to appear in House of the Dragon Season 2 as Sharako Lohar, which is also coming to an end this year on August 4, 2024.
However, depending on the nature of her character in House of the Dragon, Thorn can be expected to make a return in Season 3 of the show, as and when it happens.
Abigail Thorn is also set to appear in a starring role in Nebula's Dracula's Ex-Girlfriend, a short film written by her, chronicling a dinner between two of Dracula's ex-partners. Morgana Ignis and Brandon Rogers are also a part of her passion project, which went into filming in February 2024 and is expected to be released in September 2024.
The next episode of House of the Dragon Season 2 airs on HBO on July 21, 2024. The episode will also be available for streaming on Max, on the same day.
