Who is Qimir? Manny Jacinto's The Acolyte character explored

The Acolyte premiered its fifth episode titled "Night" this Tuesday, June 25, 2024, and it featured the Jedi finally taking on the mysterious Sith figure that the series has spent all this time building up. Given just how coy the series was playing about who the Sith behind the mask was, the episode also answered the question and revealed it to be none other than Qimir.

The Acolyte episode 5 revealed that Mae's master had been hiding in plain sight all this time and was none other than the man who had accompanied her along on her journey. Given that so much is not known about Qimir right now, it certainly seems like writer Leslye Headland and Lucasfilm do have further plans for him, given just how spooked the Jedi got by his presence.

Exploring Manny Jacinto's Qimir from The Acolyte

Qimir is portrayed by Manny Jacinto in The Acolyte. He first appeared on the planet Olega, where he held a position in an apothecary. He was helping Mae in her journey to kill the four Jedi who were positioned on Brendok when she was a child, and it also seemed like he was operating under the same master as Mae. He devised a poison that helped Mae kill Master Torbin and then escaped to Khofar with her, where Mae could kill Jedi Master Kelnacca.

However, on Khofar, Mae decided to betray her master and hanged Qimir upside down on a tree so that she could seek out Kelnacca and surrender to the Jedi, as she wanted to be with her twin sister Osha. But her master had already gotten to Kelnacca and killed him, and the Jedi got a jump on Mae and trapped her. That's when the Sith arrived and engaged in a battle with the Jedi.

During the battle, Jecki was able to unmask the Sith, and it was revealed that it was Qimir behind the mask, and he ended up killing Jecki and Yord. Here he revealed that he is just looking for an Acolyte of his own, and it was heavily implied that he just used the name "Qimir" as an alias. Later on, the official Star Wars social media accounts also revealed that he goes by The Stranger.

What can fans expect from Qimir in future The Acolyte episodes?

Given that only three more episodes of The Acolyte are left right now, going forward, fans can expect to see the Jedi react to this new threat that they will have to face. Knowing that he is still angry about Mae betraying him and that he also found an unconscious Osha in her place, fans can expect to see him turn Osha against her sister and also make her his new acolyte.

Going back to the first episode, he said:

"The Jedi live in a dream, a dream they believe everyone shares. If you attack a Jedi with a weapon, you will fail. Steel or laser are no threat to them. But an Acolyte… An Acolyte kills without a weapon. An Acolyte… kills the dream."

And knowing this, it's pretty clear that he wants to kill the dream of the Jedi with an acolyte of his own. Perhaps, in the future, fans may even get to see how he came across Mae in the show.
