Waymond Lee, who became a popular face after appearing as Waymond in Workaholics, unexpectedly passed away on December 18, 2024, at the age of 72. He was struggling with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis for a long time, which eventually led to his demise, as per Variety.

The cause of death was confirmed by Lee's wife Diane and sister Norine as they spoke to TMZ. While Waymond's initial diagnosis was reported to be a brain disease, it eventually turned out to be ALS after he underwent a test.

Waymond's family also stated that he returned to his house for a brief period until he started having problems with breathing and swallowing. He was hospitalized a week before he died and Diane was by his side at the time.

Furthermore, social media platforms were flooded with tributes after the news of Waymond's death went viral. The official Facebook page of Comedy Central posted a photo of Waymond Lee, writing that he would continue to be an important part of their family.

Workaholics co-creator Adam DeVine also expressed his grief through Instagram, where he added a picture posing with Lee. Adam described Waymond as a "kind man", adding that he is sending his condolences to Lee's family members. He further stated:

"He was always down to do whatever insane thing we wrote for him on Workaholics. He was always game. A true professional. Even though I haven't seen him since the workaholics days this is hitting me like a brick to the face. When I think of our show I think of Waymond. The older I get the more I realize what a special time that was."

Waymond's wife Diane and sister Norine are his only survivors. Further updates are currently awaited on his funeral arrangements.


Waymond Lee was an important part of Workaholics for a long time

The Los Angeles, California native accumulated a huge fanbase over the years for his appearances in various projects. But Workaholics was the one show that helped Waymond Lee become a popular face and his character Waymond was featured in 44 episodes.

Waymond's character in Workaholics specifically grabbed a lot of attention since he did not talk for most of the time on the show. He had once whispered to a co-worker and he had to suffer from verbal and physical assault on a few occasions.

Although he maintained silence on the series for most of the time, he was spotted speaking on two different occasions. Towards the finale of season 3, there was a bonus sequence where he said that he would be back.

He even spoke to the boys about the importance of their friendship.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2013, co-creator Adam DeVine revealed how Waymond Lee was cast in the series and said:

"Waymond was a Craiglist find. He came in and we thought he was so funny. We kind of put him in every episode since."

Workaholics originally premiered back in 2011 and aired for six more seasons until 2017. Adam DeVine also played one of the lead roles along with Blake Anderson.


Waymond Lee pursued a successful career in the entertainment industry over the years and was cast for minor roles in other shows such as NCIS: Los Angeles, Parks and Recreation, and Lucifer.

He also had some films in his credits, including Iron Man 2.
