Tonight's episode of Jeopardy! was a thrilling contest of wits and knowledge that kept viewers on the edge of their seats. On September 17, 2024, three contestants took the stage, each hoping to come out on top.

They were Aiden Orzech, a teacher from Thornhill, Ontario, Canada; Sam Watson, a pharmacy software salesman from Westwood, Kansas; and Evan Suttell, a nonprofit program assistant from Lakewood, Ohio, who was returning as the champion with a one-day total of $20,200.

The competition was fierce, and as the final round of Jeopardy! came to a close, it was Aiden who was declared the winner, claiming the title with a total of $27,599.

The final Jeopardy! question was in the category of History, asking about a 1976 report initiated by Admiral Rickover. The report found that it was an internal, not external, explosion that caused the destruction of the USS Maine.

Both Aiden and Evan managed to answer the question correctly, but it was Aiden's strategic wager that cemented his win for the night.

Today’s Jeopardy! winner is Aiden Orzech

Throughout the game, Aiden, Sam and Evan navigated through questions grouped into intriguing categories ranging from Fun With U.S. State Capitol Names to Stage Directions In Shakespeare. Each contestant had their moments of strength, particularly in the Double Jeopardy! round, where the stakes are higher and the questions more challenging.

Sam found both Daily Doubles in the Double Jeopardy! round but only succeeded in one, which showed that risk-taking can at times lead to loss as well as gain.

Aiden, meanwhile, led after 30 clues with a steady hand, demonstrating a broad base of knowledge and quick recall. His performance was notably strong, especially given the intense pressure and the high level of competition posed by Sam and Evan.

This round was a critical juncture, as Aiden solidified his lead by amassing a total of $15,600 before heading into the final question.

The Final Jeopardy!

The final Jeopardy! round was not just a test of knowledge but also a strategic battleground.

Evan, who was behind, doubled his score to $19,200 by betting it all. Aiden, leading, wagered $11,999 - enough to stay ahead of Evan's doubled score. His correct answer brought his final total to $27,599, making him the new champion.

Aiden is a teacher from Canada, Sam sells pharmacy software in Kansas, and Evan, who won before and has earned over $20,000, works at a nonprofit in Ohio. They had to answer lots of tough questions about different things, like history, fun facts and even Shakespeare.

The big question at the end of the game was about the USS Maine, an old battleship that got destroyed a long time ago. People first thought that an enemy attack hd caused the explosion, but later, a Navy man named Admiral Rickover said that it was a fire from inside the ship that made it explode.

Aiden knew the answer to that and won the game with $27,599. He did well and got to come back for more Jeopardy the next day. Sam remembered something that wasn't the right answer, and Evan also knew the answer but didn't win because Aiden had more points
