Having 11.22.63 season 2, if created, would ride on the first season's critical acclaim and success, and its gripping storytelling that explores history, moral dilemmas and science fiction.

It's based on the 900-page Stephen King novel of the same name. Part of the plotline of the eight-part miniseries is historical events, like the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy in 1963 in Dallas, Texas. And with the 2024 US elections incoming and Robert F. Kennedy trying to run for office, the Stephen King series is even more worth revisiting than ever.

It's been eight years since season 1 aired but with its good reception and the well-timed plotline, 11.22.63 season 2 is more timely than ever.

Why there should be 11.22.63 season 2?

There are several reasons why an 11.22.63 season 2 should be on the cards. Firstly, with the upcoming United States elections later in the year and Robert F. Kennedy running for the highest seat, the 11.22.63 plotline is even more topical and timely now than during its 2016 release.

Furthermore, the success and critical acclaim the debut series received means viewers are eager to see more of the show's main characters Jake Epping (played by James Franco) and Sadie Dunhill (played by Sarah Gadon).

Their performances, as well as that of the rest of the cast members, has made the show successful. It won Best Presentation on Television from the Saturn Awards and Top Streaming Series from ASCAP.

With an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and being one of the first largely successful Hulu original shows, it has had a decent following. All things considered, an 11.22.63 season 2 could awaken the excitement of many viewers and Stephen King fans alike to another run of the James Franco-led series.

What could the potential plotline for 11.22.63 season 2 be?

The debut season of the Hulu show ended with James Franco's Jake being forced to enter the time portal once again to try resetting things after his quest to prevent JFK's assassination failed, as he had messed up the timeline too much. Reentering the "rabbit hole" to try to patch things up means he has to come to terms with leaving Sadie and ending their relationship.

11.22.63 season 2 could revisit Jake and Sadie's love story. It could also chronicle if Jake was able to make things right and stop the villain from killing the President or has he altered the time for the worse?

The diner owner and his friend, Al Templeton (played by Chris Cooper), have been using the portal to stop JFK's assassination. However, he's now passing the access to the portal and the responsibility to try and save the President to Jake.

The official logline lends an understanding of the plot of the series, which reads:
