Warnings: Spoilers ahead

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, the adaptation of the popular Holly Jackson novel of the same name, dropped all episodes from its first season on Netflix earlier this week. It brings forth the story of Pip (played by Wednesday star Emma Myers), who is engaged in a murder investigation from five years ago involving local school girl Andie Bell (India Lillie Davies).

With its numerous twists and turns, along with a great cast, the series has opened to great critical reception as well as good viewership. A big reason for this young adult novel adaptation's success is its engaging mystery that gets more and more complex over each episode.

By the end of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, it becomes hard to predict who had actually killed Andie Bell, and who were the people involved. It was revealed at the very end, after numerous other major developments, that it was Becca Bell (Carla Woodcock) who had killed Andie, putting a very unlikely twist in the tale.

It was revealed that Becca was assaulted by Max Hastings (Henry Ashton) who gave her a date r*pe drug. But after the incident, when Becca told her sister that she was assaulted and wanted to go report it, Andie told her that she could not do so as she had sold the drug that Max used on her. This started an argument that ended with Becca pushing Andie, which unintentionally killed her.

The big surprise of this ending is one of the major reasons for the success of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder.

Who killed Andie Bell in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder? The answer even took Emma Myers by surprise

Emma Myers' performance has already gained widespread acclaim from fans who have watched A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. But as the central character, it was hard for even her to predict this ending. As part of the preparation for the role, Myers went over the novel, but she admitted that she had thought Elliot was the one who killed Andie but did not suspect Becca at all.

Myers previously told Deadline about this twist:

"I suspected Elliot when I was reading it, but I did not suspect Becca at all. That took me by surprise....I read the book ending first before I did the script, so I already knew by the time I got to the rest of the scripts. I was excited to see that play out."

Becca, being the sister of Andie Bell, was one of the least suspicious people. Moreover, before reaching Becca, there was a huge web of complexities that Pip had to untangle.

By the end, it was also revealed that more than just one person was responsible for Andie's death, and Andie herself was also deep into things that shouldn't be meddled with at her age.

Becca tries one last trick before she is stopped

After admitting that Becca was the one who killed her sister Andie Bell (or at least watched her die without helping after pushing her), Pip comforts Becca saying that it wasn't her fault. In what seems to be a gesture of goodwill, Becca offers to show Pip where her sister's body is.

However, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder had reserved one final twist before it concluded. In the remote woods, Becca declares that now that Pip knows about this big secret, she should be buried along with Andie Bell.

However, before Becca can do anything drastic, Cara and Ravi reach Pip using the Find My Friends app, effectively stopping Becca before she can do anything else.
