Christian Sims, the grandson of Annie Lois Sims, shot her to death in her own home in 2014. To make sure she was dead, he shot her one last time in the back of the head after multiple other shots. Four hours after this murder, Annie Lois Sims' husband discovered her cold and lifeless body.

Christian Sims allegedly intended to kill both of his grandparents but he found Annie alone and used the opportunity to murder her. Christian and his girlfriend, Ashley, fled the scene post-murder in the victim's car.

Christian Sims and Ashley Morrison were both arrested a day after the murder, miles away from the scene. When asked about why he killed his grandmom, Christian revealed on the show:

"I shot my grandmother because she had beaten and molested me as a child..I would not have done it for any other reason. But from the outset, there was no like plan . I’m just being honest, uh, I’m an incredibly intelligent individual. Uh and I don’t mean to say this to sound uh, like an a**hole or anything like that, but had I planned this out, it would have happened in a completely different way .”

In I Am A Killer, Christian Sims also talked about his childhood and his relationship with his grandmother. He expressed how much he detested having to live with her, due to the things she would do. Concerning that, Christian said:

"Pardon my French but f*ck it...you’re not supposed to speak ill of the dead, but my grandmother was definitely the worst, most poisonous person I’ve ever met. My grandmother mentally, physically, and se*ually abused me. She would come in late at night...She would grab my private and twist...she was just real sadistic."

"It’s shocking to me to hear Christian say that his grandmother abused him.” - Prosecutor Jill Drake

After Christian was arrested following the death of his grandmother, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 35 years in prison. His girlfriend Ashley Morrison, who was his accomplice in the crime, also entered a plea deal in the later years and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Christian Sims did not initially report or state that his grandmother had abused him when he was young. When asked about why he did not state the same, he responded:

"The reason why I didn’t mention the prior abuse is because I didn’t think that I would be believed. There is nothing that I can do or say, that can convince anybody. They weren’t there. They didn’t have to experience it. And if I’m just being honest, I don’t have remorse for her being dead as a person. I think that she deserved a lot worse than what she got. I just hate that it was my dumb a*s who did it.”

Prosecutor Jill Drake, responded to Christian's allegation stating:

"If that had come out, we certainly would have investigated that further and taken that into consideration. That’s what we do. Prosecutors seek justice. But he pointed a gun at her and shot her in the cheek, shot her right in the face.”
