The Creature Commandos season finale premiered on Max on January 9, 2025. Titled A Very Funny Monster, the episode brought a close to the first season of the show. So, those who were expecting a new episode or episode 8 of the DC animated series to premiere next week on Thursday, will be disappointed to know that there won't be one as the first season of the series has ended its run.
However, fans can expect a Creature Commandos episode 8 to be released sometime in the future— just not now. As season 2 of the show has been confirmed to be released in the future, it will, of course, continue the story that was started in season 1. However, a release window for season 2 hasn't been revealed as of yet, so it will probably be a few years until fans will be able to see the show return.

What can fans expect from Creature Commandos season 2?
Going into season 2 of Creature Commandos, fans can expect to see Task Force M be assigned for a new mission. At the end of the season finale, fans get to see that the Bride has been assigned as the new leader of Task Force M and she will be joined by newcomers like She-Bat, an updated version of G.I. Robot, and King Shark. Dr. Phosphorus and Weasel will continue to remain on the team.
The post-credits scene for the end of season 1 also confirms that Eric Frankenstein is alive as well after the Bride shot him down in Pokolistan. He was nursed back to good health by an old woman and in the scene he can be seen talking about how much he loves the Bride and cares about her. So, fans can expect Eric Frankenstein to return in season 2 of the series.
In season 2 of Creature Commandos, fans can expect to see him still going after the Bride as he still believes her to be his one true love. However, it remains to be seen how that story will continue. As for Rick Flag Sr. as well, it remains unclear whether the character will return in season 2 or not.
However, fans can expect the character to return in the upcoming Superman movie and Peacemaker season 2 as well. In season 2, fans can expect to see Flag go after Peacemaker himself as he was responsible for killing his son in The Suicide Squad.
What is Creature Commandos about?
The DC animated series is created by James Gunn and is the official start of the brand-new DCU. It follows a bunch of monsters who are assembled as the Task Force M and sent to Pokolistan to save Princess Ilana Rostovic from Circe and her forces. However, a conspiracy leads them deep into uncovering some dark truths. The official synopsis for the series reads:
"CREATURE COMMANDOS tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails… they’re your last, worst option."
The series stars the voices of Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Indira Varma as the Bride, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, and more.
