The first season of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew came to an end on January 14, 2025. The season concluded with its eighth episode, The Real Good Guys, and it focused on the kids trying to make sure that At Attin isn't invaded by pirates and that Jod doesn't leave with its treasure. However, those who are expecting episode 9 of the series may have to temper their expectations a bit.

A Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode 9 won't be releasing anytime soon. Since the first season of the show has already ended, that means there will only be eight episodes of it available. As of now, Disney hasn't confirmed season 2 of the series either. While there definitely were set ups for a season 2 at the end of season 1, the show will continue to remain an eight-episode series.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew getting a season 2 entirely depends on the ratings for the show. According to Nielsen's streaming data, the show had the worst ratings for a Star Wars original series and it couldn't even make it to the top 10 on Disney+. This does make its chances for a season 2 a bit difficult, but of course, the final word lies with Disney for now.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew creators hope to make a season 2

Prior to the release of the season finale, the creators of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, sat down with TechRadar to discuss the show. The creators revealed that they wanted the first season of the show to have a beginning, a middle, and an end, and that if given the chance, they would love to help a season 2 of the series as well.

"Yeah, we wanted to make sure this season had a satisfying beginning, middle, and end. But, if people want to see more Skeleton Crew, we'd be happy to make more," said Watts.

Amidst wanting to make a second season, creator Christopher Ford also revealed that they have ideas for where the show could go in the future.

"We're dreaming of it [a second season]," continued Ford. "We've come up with different possibilities, so never say never."

The ending of episode 8 is open enough that more can be explored with these characters. Especially At Attin's history as it is heavily implied that the planet hasn't had communication with the outer galaxy since the fall of the Republic and when Jedi were branded as traitors. Alongside that, the show can also delve deep into Jod's history in the future too given the finale hints at that as well.
