Monster's Ball star Halle Berry is dropping out of the upcoming Hulu legal drama All's Fair starring Kim Kardashian. Variety reported on Monday, July 15, that the Oscar-winning actress departed as the star and executive producer of the upcoming series helmed by Ryan Murphy. Apart from Kardashian, Berry was also set to star alongside Primetime Emmy Award-winning actress Glenn Close.

An insider informed Variety that Halle Berry's departure from the high-profile show was due to a scheduling conflict. It was only a week ago that it was reported that Berry had been cast in the legal drama alongside Close. The upcoming series will revolve around an all-female law firm in Los Angeles.

Halle Berry will next be seen in the Netflix thriller, The Union

Deadline reported on Monday, July 8 that Halle Berry and Glenn Close had been cast in the upcoming legal drama All's Fair. The Hulu show was slated to see Berry serve as its executive producer alongside Close, Kim Kardashian, and showrunner Ryan Murphy. The show was supposed to be a rare regular television role for the Academy Award-winning actress.

However, as mentioned above, Berry is no longer attached to the project, apparently due to a scheduling conflict. Glenn Close, however, will remain as part of the show. Details on Berry's character were not revealed.

Elsewhere, Hally Berry will next be seen on Netflix's The Union alongside The Departed star Mark Wahlberg. The spy thriller action comedy will also feature Luke Cage star Mike Colter and J.K. Simmons of Whiplash fame. The movie will hit the streaming platform on August 16. The trailer for the Julian Farino directorial is currently available on YouTube.

Halle Berry will also star as the lead of the upcoming Alexander Aja directorial Never Let Go. The survival horror flick will be released in theaters worldwide by Lionsgate on September 27, 2024. The film also stars child actors Percy Daggs IV, Anthony B. Jenkins, Gourmet Detective actor Matthew Kevin Anderson, and actress Stephanie Lavigne.

Halle Berry also has a couple of projects in pre-production including Maude v Maude, in which she stars alongside Angelina Jolie and a thriller flick called The Process. While at the Red Sea Film Festival in December of last year, the actress opened up about working with Angelina Jolie. As per Variety, the actress stated:

"We had a rocky start and I think that is going to serve us well in our screen time together."

She added:

"[I'm] thrilled to work with another woman and craft a story with out sensibility and from our point of view. She is formidable."

Kim Kardashian will play a successful divorce lawyer in All's Fair

Even before Halle Berry's name was attached to the project, Ryan Murphy's ensemble cast for the show had drawn a lot of eyeballs, especially one name in particular, Kim Kardashian. It was announced in December of last year that Kim Kardashian was all set to star in the legal drama.

Kardashian had previously worked with Ryan Murphy on FX's American Horror Story: Delicate, which aired from September 20, 2023, to April 24, 2024. Kardashian played one of the season's lead characters, cutthroat publicist Siobhan Corbyn, and received a lot of praise for her performance.

In All's Fair, Kardashian is all set to portray a character who happens to be the most successful divorce lawyer in Los Angeles and also the owner of an all-female law firm, around which the show revolves. As per Deadline, Murphy described the show as a "high-end, glossy and s*xy adult procedural". The show's character seems to align perfectly with Kim's personal life as the Reality TV star passed the baby bar last year and is currently preparing for the bar exam.

The series will be written by Jon Robin Baitz of Brothers & Sisters fame, Joe Baken, Jamie Pachino, Laura Greene, and Richard Levine, who will also serve as the show's executive producers. Kim Kardashian's mother Kris Jenner also serves as an executive producer of the series. Kris, alongside Murphy and Kim, had sold the show to Hulu.

As per Deadline, All's Fair is expected to enter production by late 2024 and premiere by early 2025.
