Lady in the Lake is an Apple TV+ original starring Moses Ingram as Cleo Sherwood and Natalie Portman as Maddie Schwartz in lead roles among others. The show is based on the novel Lady in the Lake by Laura Lippman.
Season one of Lady in the Lake had a total of seven episodes. The show ended its seven-episode-long run on August 23, 2024, with the season finale titled My Story. The episode did not leave any questions unanswered as the most important characters of the show and their fates were sealed and revealed. The season finale had no cliffhangers and no unexpected twisters.

How does Lady in the Lake season one end?
Season one of this limited series on Apple TV+ ends with Cleo finally chasing her dreams as she lands in Paris and takes the name of Dora Cater, her dead friend. She is seen performing in a bar and embracing her new life, away from the shackles and hardships. Cleo is finally a star.
Maddie on the other hand also publishes her book titled Lady in the Lake. In the final episode, both the lead characters of the series get what they have wanted since inception. However, nothing came for free.
Cleo had to fake her death, sacrifice her identity, and also leave her life behind so that she could come to a new place and start from scratch. After Dora Carter died in episode six, she and Reggie faked the whole scene and now that the whole world thought Cleo was dead, she used that to her advantage. However, Dora will always remain with her, as her best friend, as Cleo carries her name along and also her dream of becoming a singer. Dora shall always be alive with and within Cleo.
Maddie on the other hand had to sacrifice her family, her son, and even Platt (her lover) to become a better journalist. Although Cleo's sacrifices have a longer and harder list, Maddie had her share of hardships in the story as well, which cannot be neglected.
Why do we need Lady in the Lake season 2?
Although this show is a limited series as announced by Apple TV +, Lady in the Lake season 2 would surely be intriguing and on the other hand unexpected. With shows like Ted Lasso on the streamer getting a green light for another season, it could be possible that Lady in the Lake being a chartbuster for Apple TV+ can see a second season in the future. However, to date, there is no confirmation or news of the same.
A second season could give answers to questions like what happened to Reggie and whether he will ever get out of jail after he was arrested alongside Gordon in the finale. The fates of characters like Slappy (Cleo’s husband) are also unknown as Cleo will now be playing Dora Carter.
In the last seconds of the season finale, it is evident that Slappy goes to Paris after he is out of jail. He watches Cleo perform on stage as sits in a distance. So Slappy fans would like to know if he will be welcomed in Cleo’s life again.
More questions about Maddie’s future and who she will end up with can also be explored if there is a second season. If Maddie would end up with Allan or Platt would be interesting to see.
