Invincible season 3 is set to premiere on Prime Video on February 6, 2025, bringing a new era of the character to the small screens. While fans are used to seeing Mark Grayson in his iconic yellow, blue, and black suit in the show, season 3 will be switching things up. It will treat fans to the classic black and blue suit, which was an iconic look for the character, from the comics.

However, going into Invincible season 3, fans shouldn't expect a big plot reason for the change in the character's costume. With the show adapting the comics fairly faithfully, Mark only gets the suit because his costume designer Art Rosenbaum got bored with it.

The suit is first introduced in Invincible #51. While designing Kid Omni-Man's suit, aka Mark's half-brother Oliver (who will also be properly introduced in Invincible season 3), Art tells Mark that his new suit will look better next to his brother's. So, Mark goes on to wear the suit for a few issues but eventually returns to his old threads in the books when he decides that it is not for him.

However, series creator Robert Kirkman teases that Mark's costume change will bring a deeper meaning to his character.

Robert Kirkman talks about Mark's new suit in Invincible season 3

In the comics, the black and blue suit of Invincible features some of the series' darkest arcs and stories. Series creator Robert Kirkman has teased the same for the show with Invincible season 2. Back in season 2, Mark was once again left in a very dark place after he killed Angstrom Levy. So, in a way, the black and blue suit will be a reflection of his character as well.

Talking to Variety at San Diego Comic-Com 2024, Kirkman discussed the upcoming black and blue suit in the show.

"Going into the third season, it seemed like a good time to bring a new Mark to the forefront after everything he’s been through in season 2," teased Kirkman.
"He’s in a different headspace and that gets reflected in his costume... Anyone who has read the comic book series knows the blue suit era of ‘Invincible’ is the darkest and the most intense, and there’s a lot of really big things that are around the blue suit," he continued.

So, it seems like fans are set to see an even darker journey for Mark as a lot is set to go down in the show's upcoming season.

Invincible season 3 to have a three-episode premiere

Invincible season 3 will premiere with three episodes on February 6, 2025, when it releases on Prime Video. Following that, a new episode of the show will premiere every week until March 13, 2025. The show will once again see Mark confronting his past as a dark future lies ahead for him.

The official logline for the season reads:

"Everything changes as Mark is forced to face his past, and his future, while discovering how much further he'll need to go to protect the people he loves."

The show features the voices of Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Seth Rogen, and more.
