Hulu subscribers were left disappointed when the service crashed during one of the most anticipated moments in the MLB playoffs. Viewers tuning in to see the Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees were shocked when the Hulu outage hit. The service failed around 9 pm ET, on October 17, 2024, just before a pivotal moment in the game.

David Fry hit a walk-off home run in the 10th inning, but subscribers missed the action. Instead of watching the game, users faced a blank screen. The crash occurred during the ALCS and NLCS games, while other sports fans missed NFL, college football, and the first week of the NHL season.

After the outage, fans took to X to vent their anger. They questioned why they were paying over $80 a month for a service that failed during key moments. One user commented:

“Why do we pay $80+ a month for @hulu to go down like this?!”
“They literally just announced another price hike like 2 weeks ago! Can’t even maintain the service they provide now,” another viewer said.
“Hey @hulu, is this what I pay $$$$$ for during playoffs?!?” a netizen complained.

In addition to missing out on the MLB playoffs, fans also couldn't watch NFL and college football games. The outage left sports fans in utter despair as they were relying on Hulu Live TV for their live coverage.

“Jumped to Fox Sports App!” a Hulu subscriber stated.
“I no longer will be paying them and the woke shit bag Disney anymore of my money. They can all go the f--k away asap,” a netizen said.
“We need to be credited, or they need to be sued!,” one user wrote.

Some fans pointed out the timing of the crash, which coincided with major sporting events:

“2 playoff baseball games, NFL, college football, and @hulu just stops working. This is a joke and a waste of money,” a netizen wrote.
"#Hulu is down, and the timing for a sports fan can’t be worse,” a subscriber added.
“Hulu has Live Sports will never sit the same man after what happened tonight lol. Entire service just shut down during middle of an instant classic in baseball lol,” another tweet read

Overall, fans expressed their frustration as they missed two MLB playoff games and several other live sports events, feeling let down by the platform's inability to maintain its service during such important moments.

Is Hulu down?

The outage during the MLB playoffs wasn’t an isolated incident, but it was one of the most publicized due to its timing. For fans who had paid extra for Hulu+ Live TV, the sudden crash during such a high-profile event was disappointing.

Reports of outages began around 7:51 p.m. EST and continued throughout the evening. Fans missed critical moments in not just baseball but also in NFL and college football games. As the night progressed, more users reported the server status issues on social media and platforms like DownDetector.

This outage couldn't have happened at a worse time, especially since the price of the service just went up. The platform raised its prices a lot on October 17, 2024. The Live TV plan went from $76.99 per month to $82.99 per month. Users were already angry about the $6 price hike before the outage.

Prices for other plans also soared by 25%. The plan with ads jumped from $7.99 to $9.99, and the plan without ads went from $17.99 to $18.99. A lot of subscribers thought the price hike was too much, and the service crash made them even more angry.
