Apple TV renewed Drops of God season 2

Drops of God season 2 was announced to be renewed on May 2024, almost a year after the first season concluded. Apple TV+ has confirmed the renewal and the twist is that similar to the last time the streamer giant is buying the sequel, rather than commissioning it. This makes the adaptation land on the list of one of the rarest TV acquisition deals.

As of now, besides the confirmation of the sequel, no other information has been divulged by Apple TV+, creator Quoc Dang Tran, and director Oded Ruskin.

However, in time, more details will be made public soon, starting with the production details. As Deadline estimated, the budget for season 1 was around $30M, which Legendary majorly financed.

While Apple TV secured the rights for global streaming of the series, France Télévisions acquired the French streaming rights, and Hulu Japan got the non-exclusive rights for Japan. For Drops of God season 2, it is anticipated that no changes will be made regarding the streaming rights.

Plot summary

Apple TV’s Drops of God centers on fierce competition for the inheritance of Alexandre Léger’s vast estate and his unparalleled wine collection between Camille and Issei. Camille is the Léger’s estranged daughter, while Issei is the star student of an acclaimed oenologist (an expert in science and study of winemaking).
