There is good news for Shetland fans: the Scottish crime drama will not finish here, as Shetland season 10 is on the way, and was confirmed long back.

Shetland season 9 concluded its six-episode run on December 11. The season finale, which impressed some fans and disappointed many, finally ended Annie Bett's murder mystery, as it was made known to everyone that Noreen was the one who killed Bett.

Season 9's plot revolved around Annie Bett's murder. Bett was a close friend of Tosh, which made this case more intriguing. The end of season 9 not only solved this case but Tosh and Calder, who were merely partners in crime investigation, eventually became friends at the end.

Shetland season 10 was confirmed at the same time as season 9. Viewers can expect season 10 to hit the streamer in late 2025. Director of BBC Drama Lindsay Salt talked about the show being renewed for two consecutive seasons and revealed to HELLO Magazine that:

"It’s a joy to bring Shetland back for not one, but two new series, further strengthening the BBC’s commitment to this hugely successful Scottish drama that’s loved by fans across the UK and around the world."

Although there is no news on when filming will start for Shetland season 10 and no plot details have been made available so far, it has been confirmed that season 10 will also have six episodes, as usual, following the crime drama's usual six-episode run every season. As per reports by several media houses, Shetland season 10 will be shot in Shetland Isles and Scotland.
