What is the plot of the series?
The story of 1923 focuses on the Dutton family in the early 20th century, headed by the couple Cara and Jacob Dutton. After a brawl accident leaves Jacob severely injured, their nephew Spencer Dutton is called back from Africa. More struggle arrives for the Dutton family, as they suffer from their inner family clashes while also striving to resist two big rivals, Banner Creighton and Donald Whitfield.
The stakes are heavy for them as the family has to survive through the worst phases in the history of Montana, including droughts, pandemics, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. The series depicts how the ancestors managed to protect the ranch from bureaucratic landlords and corporate vultures, while keeping the family legacy alive.
