Women in Blue season 1 is an Apple TV+ original show, launched with the first two episodes on July 31, 2024. The show is a fictionalized account of Mexico's first female police force and takes place in the early 1970s.

Women in Blue season 1 follows the journey of Maria, Angeles, Valentina, and Gabina as they form the first female unit in Mexico's police force. Their induction takes place against the backdrop of the serial killer known as the Tlapan Undresser terrorizing the women of the country, causing public outrage.
The women soon find themselves tangled up in the Undresser case after Maria discovers the body of Paola, one of the killer's victims.
However, the women in blue come to the harsh realization that their input isn't valued, as the higher-ups only allowed them in to clean up the police's reputation and distract the public from the allegations of incompetence being levied against them.
Women in Blue season 1 explores themes of police incompetence, with the force's willingness to arrest a potentially innocent man named Tito Flores just to score a public relations victory. When Maria grows skeptical of Tito's guilt, her concerns are dismissed and she's warned against doing any investigative work on her own.
The series also explores the sexist family dynamics in Mexico by examining Gabina's home life, wherein she's ostracized by her father for joining the police force. Even her brother, who's on the force himself, is unwilling to stand up for her.
With all the indications that Tito Flores is innocent, it's likely the Tlapan Undresser mystery is far from solved. Given the way episode 2 of Women in Blue ended, we can expect to see the women on the police force go maverick and handle things on their own terms.
